Great reaction and comments re:this absolutely beautiful song. I absolutely agree with you on this. I would love to recommend your listening to “Stranger”. I recommend the premier version with Igor Krutoy, the composer. This was written especially for him as well as “Olympico” along with many others. I also recommend the female version of Dimash “Diana Ankudinova, from Russia “Can’t Help Falling in Love” on the Russian talent show The ShowMaskGoon. This was her first adult competition against 8 other vocalists who all rank each performance. She did win this competition. She’s a dramatic contralto with polyphonic and subharmonic abilities. Absolutely something in my 66 years, along with Dimash, that I’ve never heard before. I do hope that you can react and enjoy these suggestions. Much love and appreciation from California.❤️🌈🍀😇🙏🏻❣️

James Bond's saying about martinis and vodka "Shaken, not stirred" Great for Dimash. He treats his voice like an instrument and can sing opera, rock, pop, rap, jazz. And all these colors can combine with great skill in any song. But don't mix it up. Dude breaks down our musical clichés and inner unfreedom. Only Dimash is able to play styles of genres, change registers and timbres with such ease. And not for vocal acrobatics. But to get the sense out of the song, and to carry the listener into the adventure and the search for emotions and new feelings. And to make me cry with delight.

Thanx for the react. I caught this on my tv first then came to my iPad for a second view. I have bipolar disorder. On medication for over 30 years I deal with no symptoms but taking medication sometimes is hard to deal with in a change of sleep pattern. This is my song. It is the most saddest and beautiful song written and performed here. The person who said there was no feeling did not read the words to this song. Something happened to Dimash and I don’t know what, but it is his signature song sung at all concerts and was his number one pick to sing in his contests through the years. Is about suicide. And, all of the people ever involved with the song back to when it was written for the French rock opera Starmania have passed away. There was even a young male pop singer in France who died from a terminal disease that sang it. All died and some tragically. Dimash might not have had it so easy as a boy singing soprano among other male kids his age as it was years ago. But as regards to emotion and the song the very message of the song is emotion without Dimash and with him he makes himself vulnerable to even sing a song so passionate about a person wondering why they live why they die, not comfortable in their own skin, wondering why they picked the wrong number in the lottery of the universal. For us the mentally I’ll the last line sleep child sleep gives me with insomnia a nice last line prayer for my issues. I had to one back to you for a second time. As a long time dear finding Dimash in the middle of five surgeries from 10/2020 to 4/2021 Dimash carried me through and is still doing it. I sometimes see him sweat that all the proof I need that this song is the real thing. All of dimashs song are special. There’s no trash.

You might want to listen to a young Russian singer - Diana Ankudinova who is 18 years old in this video, singing a very unique cover of Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling In Love. She's a contralto, and a commanding stage presence. kzitem.info/news/bejne/xmhuqaGosV-aaHY This performance was from a Russian show that aired last fall, and ran for 9 weeks. There were 9 singers who were also the judges and critiqued each other. There were 9 genres of music they had to perform over the course off the show. Thus Diana sang in many different styles. Diana (dee-ah-na) was abandoned by her abusive mother at the age 3 and placed in an orphanage, diagnosed with cognitive impairment. Her adoptive mother had her enroll in singing lessons to help with some speech problems due to abuse and neglect. Her singing talent was immediately noticed and the rest, as they say, is history.

Stranger, Sinful Passion, Olimpico, Samaltau, the list goes on. Dimash inspires emotion. An emotional conduit who plugs the listener directly into the feelings behind the music without need of translation. I recognize that not everyone will be as engrossed as many of us dears, but to discount the depth of his emotion speaks to an empty shell of a human being. Glad you’re on this journey and happy you “get” it!

Thank you for reacting to Dimash! The true Renaissance prince of our time;) I am so glad you took a chance on Dimash! My life has been changed by Dimash- BD ( before Dimash) and AD ( after Dimash!). Your reaction was genuine, sincere, and thoughtful;). A few things to think about: Every song Dimash chooses has a backstory that enriches the viewers experience. This song, a French Canadian opera-Starmania- is about life, depression, the possibility of suicide. Dimash’s Kazakh friend, Denis Ten, a bronze Olympic figure skater, had been murdered by thugs during a robbery before this performance. Dimash’s feelings of loss and grief are evident. Second, please take advantage of subtitles- the lyrics are important to understanding the song. Dimash does not choose songs without a message. Third, please stop the song whenever you want to comment- the Dears do not mind and it shows respect for Dimash. Please do not talk over Dimash. Welcome to a new world! Hello from a California Dear ;)

For 3.5 years, since accidently discovering Dimash, I have been listening to him every day for hours and attending his concerts. I listen to various performances of SOS every day. For 3.5 years I have been moved and touched by him beyond anything I have ever experienced in my life. The way he makes me feel is incomparable to anything, more powerful than anything. He is my soul healer. And those who can't or don't want to feel it - it's their business, they can listen to other singers, I couldn't care less.

SOS, is a song from Starmania, a Canadian-French cyberpunk rock opera written in 1976. This is a song about depression & thoughts of suicide. Enjoy the journey, you've only just begun. . S.O.S. of a Soul in Distress Why do I live, why do I die? Why do I laugh, why do I cry? Here is the SOS of a man in distress I've never had both feet upon the ground I'd rather be a bird I don't fit into this skin I'd like to see the world turned upside down If ever it were beautiful It's lovelier from above, from above I've always confused life with the comic strips Even wished I could transform I feel something That draws me That draws me That draws me up Into the great lotto of the universe I don't have the right numbers I don't fit into this skin I don't want to be a robot Eating, working, sleeping Why do I live, why do I die Why do I live, why do I cry I think I'm catching waves From another world I've never had both feet upon the ground I'd rather be a bird I'd like to see the world turned upside down I'd rather be a bird Sleep, child, sleep

Loved the reaction-analysis, I smiled so much it hurt my face 😁 It`s awesome to watch a great artist like Dimash and a great musician reactor like you, the combination is a-mazing 😁 Thank you for the comment about the emotion. I think that people who say that Dimash is only demonstrating skill and has no emotion don`t know anything about him, except hearing a few spectacular songs. I will explain something about his cover of "SOS" that paints a picture about Dimash and is proving you right : "SOS (of an earthling in distress)" was performed previously several artists, and also by Gregory Lemarchal (a young french singer who performed this song with the voice of an angel even though he only had 20% lung capacity left - due to cystic fibrosis, which took his life at 23, and made the lyrics "I feel ill in my own skin" fit him painfully well) - Dimash was inspired to sing "SOS" by Gregory`s version. Dimash has been singing this song since 2012, and it gradually became his "calling card". Dimash kept only some of the lyrics (and didn`t include some that didn`t fit his blessed circumstances, out of respect for Gregory`s tragic destiny), giving the song a stripped down, philosophical meaning. With time, he gave the song a larger "lament for humanity" meaning, and a "goodbye" meaning, dedicated to people, artists, "pulled away by waves from another world" at a young age. Since 2018 - Dimash turned "SOS" into a tribute and goodbye to his friend Denis Ten, young kazakh figure skater, murdered by thieves at age 25. He had skated to "SOS", and they were planning to do a "duet" performance, but they never got to do that, Denis was killed. In his London concert (2018) and Arnau Kazakhstan (2019), Dimash had images of Denis playing on the big stage screens. In London, at the end of "SOS", Dimash wiped tears off his face and abruptly walked off the stage, took a break to gather himself. In Arnau Kazakhstan concert, he invited Denis` parents to the concert and dedicated the song to them as well, and gave a speech in memory of Denis. Since 2018-2019 : "SOS" has become a tribute to Denis, and music icons that died young : during his performance of "SOS", in his concerts, on the big stage screens roll images of : Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Freddie Mercury, George Michael, Amy Winehouse, Chester Bennington, A`Studio band`s lead singer Batyrkan Shukenov (who died at age 52 of a heart attack, and whom Dimash admired a lot), and many, many others. Aside from a tribute-goodbye to precious people who died young, he also sings this song as a lament for the world, and on the screens roll images of painful events that sometimes make us want to be a bird, hoping this world would be better seen from above : the burning of Notre Dame, cities destroyed by natural disasters, pandemic etc. In this 2021 performance - part of his online concert during the pandemic - he didn`t do these things, but he still kneeled at the end, for "sleep, child, sleep.." - the 'goodbye' verse of the song. To see the heart and thought that he puts into this song, you have to see a stage concert performance of "SOS" : kzitem.info/news/bejne/xm6f0Hhvh2eFgKA - 2020 concert, Kiev (last concert before the pandemic hit) - not for a reaction, but it`s worth watching, to get a more complete picture :) Also, you were right about the musicians around him, and about how particular he is about the instrumental part. He also studied and got a master`s degree in Composition, and is very involved in how the instrumental part sounds. He only composed a few of his songs so far, but for the rest, he is particular about the arrangement, writes some of it, and then his arranger (and good friend, and sound guy) writes the whole arrangement "exactly as Dimash imagined it" :) And Dimash feels blessed to have such a great talented person as a part of his team and as a good friend, or "brother", as he calls him :) And the musicians on stage with him are always with him, they are his team and friends, and they work very well together, and they`re very good musicians themselves :) I am so glad when a reactor picks up on all of that, which makes me a very happy subscriber to your channel :) Thank you for your videos :)

Another great reaction Jonathon! Yes, we Dears get very confused when people say he doesn't sing with any emotion. It is universally felt among his fans that he touches us deep in our souls with him voice and feelings. We don't understand when others don't feel that as well! Anyway, you are also right about the music behind him. He plays several instruments himself and is also a composer. He cares very deeply that the music is always top notch and intricate as well. This is the song people usually start with when reacting to Dimash, but even this is just a very small tip of what he can do vocally! He has many songs where he hangs out in that lower range more (Love is Like a Dream, Olympico, Sinful Passion, Stranger, just to name a few). However, I would love to suggest a song that doesn't have a huge vocal range, but is a moving Kazakh folk song with amazing native instrumentation that I think you would enjoy. Here is the link: kzitem.info/news/bejne/tqyDuJ-fkqdkfag. I prefer this version because it feels very intimate and there is more focus on the instrumentation.

I understand that not everyone can perceive it (people perceive things differently) but I see and feel all the emotions in most of his performances. After seeing him live in concert I'm in no doubt that emotions is a huge part of his performances. In some songs you can see he is balancing on a knife edge on the verge of letting the emotions get the best of him. Dimash is a singer with lots of skills but he is not a one trick pony or a vocal machine just showing off, he got a well equipped musical toolbox and knows what tools to bring out for each song. He is also an independent artist, that gives him the freedom to sing the songs he like and care for.

SOS is the song that introduced Dimash to the world and opened many great opportunities and collaborations for him. This song comes from the famous 1978 Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' which is well known in French-speaking countries and is a pretty difficult song to sing. In 2017 Dimash received a wild card for the competition “The Singer” in China. He was the youngest participant ever at 22 years old and the first non-Chinese. Only professional, award-winning singers take part in this competition. Although well-known and respected in his homeland Kazakhstan, nobody in China knew or heard about Dimash before, but with his first song, SOS, Dimash shocked the audience and captured the hearts of over 600 million of viewers overnight, and the rest is history as the saying goes.

The truth is that he is not all about range, and his many songs without wide range are just as beautiful. For instance his Kazakh and many of his Chinese songs. Or If I Never Breathe Again. They are just beauty and emotion. If you really want to get to knbow that side of him, I suggest to react to such songs. The Digital Show 2021 has many beautiful performances of his Kazakh songs, such as Daididau, Samaltau, Qairan Elim, Qaragym ai, Durdaraz and others. Also worth watching Daidau Bastau 2017, where he gets very emotional towards the end and Samaltau 2020 Tokyo Jazz version and Qaragym ai 2020 version. All those songs are on his official channel, all live performances. Watching 2 different performances of the same song can teach you a lot about him and how you can never get bored or tired of the same songs, no matter how many times he performs them.

I think the issue for some people is this...approaching an experience analytically or technically often shuts out any emotional response... So I think when some of these people listen to DIMASH that because of the amazing things he's capable of doing and the expectations all the hype creates, some may walk away feeling unmoved and think it's DIMASH that showed no feeling or emotion. If they listen with their hearts first and then break it down after I think they'll actually understand what he's about. People don't always consider what they contribute to/or how they affect their own experiences.

Those that say Dimash shows little to no emotion in his singing are those that can't attack him on any other front as his ability, talent, skill, performance and technicality is not open for critique as no one living today does it better.Only the subjective is all that is left to critique. I have listened to some reactors and they say he is all high notes just a show horse and these reactors obviously were jealous as could be seen in their faces when they reacted. Dimash is the whole package looks included and he has earned his title as Best Vocalist in the World. I can understand not liking a particular style of music doesn't take away or dimish Dimash's artistry.

This is from 2017, when he became a sensation in China appearing on this show. He sings his heart out. You’ll appreciate seeing the younger version of him too. He has never ending facets. Oh & you’ll hear a little more of some of his lower tones.

The song SoS is one of the most difficult songs to be sung in french. It has a very long story. It is from 1979 and is originally from a musical called ´Starmania´, which by the way has many great songs in it and even Celine Dion covered one. Great reaction, continue to react to Dimash, you will be surprised, just select a radom one and enjoy.😀

Oh my! I can't imagine what Dimash song that person could have seen that would leave them thinking that he didn't show emotion! I think Dimash is excellent at putting emotion into his song! Sometimes so good that I can't watch the videos as often as I'd like to. And you're right, Dimash usually only sings songs that touch him in some way. I'm looking forward to watching more of your Dimash reactions! Glad you are enjoying his music!

When I read comments by people that say he is a technically perfect singer who displays no emotions, it really quite upsets me, because it is patently obvious to anyone with eyes to see and hearts to be touched that he pours his heart and soul into the songs he sings. I read a comment about Dimash today that said that Dimash does not just perform, he embodies the song. He is the song. He is the music. Every cell of his body is involved. Those people who don't get him are exposing their own lack of soul rather than Dimash's. He can't sing without becoming the song, and he feels it very deeply. You only have to watch him in tears during and after some of his performances in concert to know that. But those critics don't want to be proved wrong by watching anything, they just want to hold on to their views and write the man off as a robot. That's fine. It's their loss! The rest of us will enjoy his amazing vocals and amazing performances, and be touched. That's enough.

Lara Fabian has been a great influence on Dimash. In the singer 2017 contest he sang Adagio, a song that Lara had performed. If you watch Je Suis Malade by her you will see that they both put heart and soul into their performances. You can see why Dimasa holds her in such high regard. Now for a real treat you can check out Dimash singing with Lara and Aida Garafullina in Ti Amo Cosi. You will hear Dimash in his beautiful low register. Enjoy!

Thanks for your reaction. The song was written for Daniel Balavoine, a French famous singer, who tragically passed away when he was 35 in a helicopter crash. Years later, a young French singer Gregory Lemarchal made a cover, and he also died very young (24 if I remember well) from a disease. Now this is Dimash's song. French is my mother tongue and I can assure you that he perfectly sings it. Concerning his lack of emotion, I respect the fact that people don't like such music but pretend that he does not convey emotion is totally unfair. He cried after performances (for ex Daididau, Bastau kzitem.info/news/bejne/s5dq3GVvi6JnloY), the crowd cried when he performed for the first time in Chinese (he learnt the song in 1 week, and we all know how difficult is this language (kzitem.info/news/bejne/rKOfmJeMopyVgKQ), a full stadium was in a total silence when he performed the same song later (kzitem.info/news/bejne/lWltr3mpfXuLmXo), you can see he is somewhere else when he is singing Know (kzitem.info/news/bejne/tnmY1qhqcX2fp44) and there are a lot of other examples of very emotional songs (Adagio, Daybreak, Love is like a dream, Ikanaide... etc.). Personally, when I listen to him, I am immediately transported in another dimension, and I can completely forget the world, not only because his insane vocal ability but because he is so more than an incredible singer. He is an absolute genius, musically, and an extraordinary person, highly cultivated, always polite, respectful, transcending cultures and religions, a gift to the world. I attended his concert in Dusseldorf in April and believe me, the connection between Dimash and his audience is absolutely unique.
