@@NotASaint1985 I met Darrell in 1984 and he gave me a few guitar lessons. We got drunk together and had a BBQ at my sister`s house in early 1984. He woke me up one morning hollering "GET UP GET UP GET DOWN" with a joint in each hand. My sister married his cousin and that`s how I met him. Saw them play live in Dallas in 1985. He was the perfect example of the Dallas Texas vibe back then. Everybody was fun and just like him there in the 80s.

So true. Dime was one of my biggest musical heroes. The night he died I was at a gig. I found out about it right before we started playing. At that time I was playing saxophone in a jazz group. I made an announcement that I was dedicating my performance to my hero DIMEBAG and you could have heard a pin drop. I didn't give a fuck. My only hope was that he was looking down with his Black Tooth Grin as I paid my musical tribute to the man who changed my,life!

As I type this, he's been gone for nearly 17 years. It still stings, knowing how much of an amazing human he was. Growing up listening to his music, and watching the interviews, meeting him at shows, watching the home videos, we all felt like we knew him personally. He had that kind of influence on all of us. The world is much colder without his light. As I type this through tears I know he'd probably punch me in the shoulder and tell me take a shot. "Drink it, or wear it!"

I've seen them 3 times, but I was born and raised just a few miles from their Arlington/Pantego based recording studios and party compound, so they were a local band to me at first. I saw them in '91 at barely 14 years old, and like you didnt appreciate what I was witnessing..at that time it was my second live show ever, and first true metal so I assumed all metal guitarists were as good as Dime live, and frontmen as powerful as Phil. (back then at least) Countless live shows in various rock genres over the years have taught me how very wrong I was...nobody can play live with Dimes intensity yet remain so on point to the studio version..nobody, but there are a few who can come close. Rest assured I appreciated Pantera as much more than a "local band" by the time I hit my late teens/early 20's, and then it was all over way too soon. RIP Dime and Vinny 🤘

As soon as I heard about Dean's DBZ guitars after he left Dean, I had my heart set on one of his V's. Paid it off, bit by bit. When I finally got it, the store owner, my main man, Matt Crump made a phone call and got Dean to sign the back of the headstock. Did a few shows, had an injury that turned into opioid addiction... Sold it to stave off dope sickness. 5 years clean and it goes down as possibly the best thing addiction took from me. But I'm still alive and the family is still with me. Big pharma, kids. Don't trust it. Don't do it.

Even though I never got to meet him, Dime was like a member of my Family!!💯💯 This coming December will be 15yrs since that nite he passed away, and it still hurts!! Me and Dime have spent A LOT OF TIME TOGETHER THROUGH HIS MUSIC, and through it all, DIME HAS NEVER LET ME DOWN, HE'S ALWAYS THERE WHEN I NEED HIM!!!!! He was a MASTER OF HIS CRAFT!!
