Dimples filled with either brown sugar or strawberry preserves, cinnamon sugar topping and heavenly delicious yeast-based dough make this coffee cake a real winner. Both are great and since the basic sweet coffee cake dough makes two, enjoy them both. Super easy recipe that just takes a bit of time due to the yeast.

Recipe:
Basic Sweet Dough (enough for two coffee cakes)
Sugar 4 Tbl divided (
Dry Active Yeast 1 package, 2 1/2 teaspoons (50 g)
Egg Yolks 3 (umm, 3)
Vanilla 1 tsp (5 ml)
1/4 C warm water (100 - 105 degrees)
AP Flour 3 C (380 g)
Salt 1 teaspoon (6 g)
Unsalted Butter - chilled and diced - 1C, 1/2 lb (226 g)
Milk 1/2 C (120 ml)
Proof Yeast with 1 Tbl sugar.
Mix flour, remaining sugar and salt. Add butter, mix until crumbly.
Separately mix remaining ingredients, then add the yeast and mix.
Combine wet ingredients into flour/butter mixture. Total mix time is under a minute.
Refrigerate overnight or several days in buttered bowl.
Brown Sugar Dimples
Raisins (golden preferred) Plumped 1/3 C (50 g)
Brown Sugar 1/3 C (65 g)
Unsalted Butter - chilled - diced into ~32 pieces - 2 oz. (56 g)
Cinnamon Sugar - 2 Tbl sugar (25 g), 3/4 tsp cinnamon (1 g) mixed
Fold in plumped raisins - love saying Plumped Raisins
Roll out dough into 8 x 8 pan, line with parchment, let rest covered for an hour until puffy
Make dimples
Neatly spoon brown sugar into dimples, top with butter cube
Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar
Bake 375 for ~25 minutes
Strawberry Preserve Dimples
Raisins (golden preferred) Plumped 1/3 C (50 g)
Preserves - Strawberry is magical - homemade is awesome - 1/4 C (80 g)
Unsalted Butter - chilled - diced into ~32 pieces - 2 oz. (56 g)
Cinnamon Sugar - 2 Tbl sugar (25 g), 3/4 tsp cinnamon (1 g)mixed
Fold in plumped raisins - love saying Plumped Raisins
