So you named two genres there, which I'm guessing is what you've mostly explored, but that doesn't really give you the right to unequivocally damn all new music to the trashpile. Have you listened to A Tribe Called Quest's new album? Have you listened to the xx's new single? I don't know what your tastes are, but if your attitude going in is that any new music will be shit, it will sound shit. Go in with an open mind and you'll find stuff you like. I guarantee you there was a bunch of music that came out in 1961 that was a *crock of shite*, but you don't listen to that because its been largely consigned to history.

I'm not sure where this club was, or even if it was....way back then...we knew the best clubs in NYC.... About this time was the Peppermint Lounge...I believe 45th between Broadway and and sixth avenue....hottest place for about a year.....was a dive bar before...then reseructed...by backers of the group.... NYC, was an ever changing landscape of clubs....best places for shows...the Apollo, Madison Square Garden...saw Elvis there in the early 70's...in the late 60's...it was the Filmore East....below 12th street on Second Avenue.... Or where I saw the Four Tops...for my prom, Basin Street East.... The night life rocked....life was good...or at least for a while...I went to prom in 66, then went to basic, in 67...then a shithole in SE Asia till the end of 68.... Write me sometime darling...I'll tell you about the disco era...Hahahahaha! But NYC was always happening...

The issues young people have are the same and valid and each generation has its own new style. The trouble with the millennials is they have had too much technology do all their self expression for them, which is why they are good at saying "Oh, love those old 60's songs...Just what I feel myself now..." But they cannot do their own form of self expression as this generation. They never learned how to play an instrument or so g, apart from rap, which is skilled talking to a rhythm, but not singing. They had no need to work so hard at creative self expression through art. The technology does it all for them. You also see this in gym training for sports type. Bruce Lee became great at Martial Arts, but I saw no he did not rely on fancy exclusive gym memberships to train. He just looked around his environment and used whatever was there as gym training equipment. Which is brilliant mental training, too. Because, if you are going to be an expert martial arts fighter, you need to think very fast and innovatively eg what can you seize laying around your current location, be it urban or rural, to improvise ass weapon if your survival depends on it. You can't think "Oh,no...I can't check if I can lift and throw down my huge thug of an assailant because I haven't got my gym weights to check if he's not heavy, for example. You must act and fast or be dead. So, even if he looks heavy and daunting and you know you are smaller and probably physically weaker, too, yoursuperior agile, innovative well trained mind could still let you beat him and survive. Maybe you can look around your environment fast and notice something you can use to throw him off balance and buy a few spit seconds to get to safety. Eg, you are both fighting on a trap door thing one often sees on Aussie urban pavements, near pubs, used to deliver beer kegs to underground cellars beneath the street pedestrian pavement. You worked in pubs, you know how to unsnib these. So you deftly unlock one, swing it open, quickly and unexpectedly push the thug down, slam the door shut and flee. Let the crowd of surprised guys drinking and working in the area below the pavement sort out the invited "guest" intruder. ...Looks like he might need a beer after such an ordeal... But they"ll probably give him the beating he deserves. I actually saw such a scene once...It was terrifying to watch, but also kind of hilariously comical, too and I marvelled at the ingenious fast deft thinking of the smaller, weaker looking guy I thought would be beaten to a pilp by this street thug....

There is nothing complex to see here, look at those lyrics, people from the 60s only had a good voice, songwriting? WTF are those lyrics, the one hit wonders, no concept albums, the production is so bad I can't even talk about that, they didn't even know the flow and beat existed

One of the great rhythm singers ever. Big influence on many including Lou Reed, Springsteen, Paul Simon and Dylan. One of the few who went on to do even better solo, after leaving a successful group. Ranks with Frankie Laine (Mr. Rhythm) as a rhythm singer. Impossible to off a good Dion song once it is heard. His original "Ruby Baby" is one of the great pop recordings of all-time.

This was our song, me and my bunch in high school. Loved it. One of the great songs of the era. We heard it every day on KXOK in St. Louis. Fond memories.

The music was happy, romantic and filled with love. It had meaning and the people need to bring it back. It blared on front porches were the girls congregated. What a lovely world

A blast from the past for me ... loved this song which was a 'staple' at our record hops in the late 60's. The good ole days ... or daze, as we called them then. :)
