Maria Grazia and her team released a very strong cruise collection for Dior this year! Innovatively showcasing femininity. A mix of tradition and punk. I will definitely buy something from this collection. Dior's collaboration with local craft businesses and local designers is really great. I suspect that some others will pick up the kilt/plaid/corset detail/embroidery detail motif after this collection. Nothing is exaggerated, it is surprisingly combined and Maria Grazia remains true to simple elegance. Well done!

The direction was great. I like that she took a risk and went in a different direction. She learned about a different country and also showcased it, technically what all Dior creative directors of the brand do but Scotland is never highlighted. The technical execution was great but the styling was awful.

I actually like the purple tartan fabric but the way it's being used isn't doing it any favors. Like it really would've looked cool if they'd used that same fabric to pay homage to Dior's new look, but like maybe with edgier kind of punk vibes.

I think I've just decided that clothes with words on them from a designer house are so cringe. Also, those knee-high socks are just so juvenile. I wore that kind of stuff in middle school. This is giving so much punk prep.

The words could have worked if they were used as a graphic design element instead of words on a bodice. Slant them, distort them, color block with them by using them as a pattern! It could have worked, just not this way.

I can see how the green tartan outfit is less heinous than the purple, but from a traditional Scottish perspective it's all bad tartan. What clan would the green tartan belong to? Clan Shrek? 😂
