Thanks for the wonderful reaction. I love this song. And i enjoyed your reaction a lot, from your actual reaction, to those few comments about the song. It's alright that you don't fully understand it, though. I read Kyo interview in PHY (yesterday's issue). It was a good interview. It was a little bit depressing. And Kyo said that the album title was picked up after finishing the album. He said that he looked up different torture methods but the Brazen Bull was the most terrifying to him. I personally had hard time understanding the MV. I understand that it's a showcase for torture methods. And it shows Kyo inside the Brazen Bull. And don't be surprised because kids were put into the bull even if they were innocent. Worse things happened at these times. Phalaris used to have human newborns for dinner, literally. But It's an edited version. The original video is longer maybe watching this one when it's out will help us understand. As for the lyrics, the most noticable are the ones he sings in English "Nose. Eyes. Ear. The sound of the brain dying" he can either be describing the Bull or describing his own self or describing both (he is shown attached to the Bull's skeleton as if they were one) He then sings in Japanese, he says something like, "there is one thing i want you to remember, this life, without time to realize, turns into ashes and reeks of sins". This is enough for you to understand the whole concept of the song. It kinda reminds me of The World of Mercy. Especially when he says, "I'm a saint, I do whatever it takes. You the world, slowly turning into a serial killer" (it's like when Marilyn Manson said, "we are the world and we've got no future") Kyo then sings about how ripened he is, ripened than anyone else. And how he was born in scintillation. Which might mean that he's talking as more than one active verb. Also the fact that he changes his voice when he sings this line supports this theory (He's probably talking as both himself and The Bull) Well, this is a new song... DeG songs are hard to understand but that's my analysis to the song. It might be wrong or right 😅 I agree with you when you said that he looks horrifying. He always been edgy but he just looks too devilish on this one 😅 and even in the live performances as of late. You won't notice but he had new tattoos on his legs, too. I'd like to recommend you react to Ochita Koto no Aru Sora (m.kzitem.info/news/bejne/y3iLtGSehmqqfoo) and Oboro (m.kzitem.info/news/bejne/y3iLtGSehmqqfoo) They are both songs on the new album. Thanks again for the reaction. Hope you have a lovely day :)

Loving all the Dir En Grey content ❤️ I don't know if you're aware, but the lead singer, Kyo, has two other projects with many big names in Japanese music: Sukekiyo and Petit Brabancon. Both are pretty different from Dir En Grey, but they are just as good a listen too! Definitely worth checking into when you can 😊

The story of Phalaris goes that he commissioned the Bull from an artist called Perilaos and when it was finished he put the artist into the bull for a test run. This is really just me interpreting, I haven't even had time to read recent interviews so I am probably even more off than usual but it's just fun making up my own thoughts form the images xD I think Kyo is presented as Periloas here. The artist who gets tortured [killed] by his own work. In the videos to Saku and Revelation of Mankind we already find that concept where people are watching Dir en grey on the internet/televion and think of or actually execute gruesome crimes. It's like saying: If you do art you never fully know the impact it might have on people. Of course in the case of Periloas he did not come up with the idea of the bull himself and he knew exactly what purpose his 'art' was going to serve. He knew the impact it would have on others but did not count himself amongst those - he, different from Kyo, did not think that the terrible side of his art [it being designed to be an instrument of torture as opposed to the beauty of it's outward look] would habe any consequence for him personally. And as the legend goes he was terribly mistaken in that thought. The idea of the artist being devoured by their own work somehow really speaks to me. But in the costume Kyo turns that image somehow around, doesn't he? He is IN the Bull but it is not him reduced to bones but the Bull around him. As if he somehow melted the Bull - not the other way around. An artist who knows about the consequences of his own invention and constantly struggles to keep the upper hand maybe [using music as a form of katharsis instead of merely filling it with potentially dangerous emotions?]. But talking about the song: I really hate these promotion edits XD I am really happy I heard the song on the album first and I would recommend listening to the full version if you have the time ^^ [depending on your country you should be able to find it on KZitem, spotify and amazon]. When they revealed the titles I immediately thought of Jean-Baptiste Grenouille [main character in the novel The Perfume from Patrick Sueskind] and I desperately want to find a connection there to the lyrics. It seems to work with the overall image of Phalaris - an artist [perfume maker] being killed by/through his own invention [Jean-Baptiste was born without smell. He invents a 'human smell' so people start noticing his presence and finally gets shred to pieces by a mop of people when he develops a perfume so fine that everyone wants a piece of the one wearing it - the smell practically drives them mad. Man, as the original sinner surely wears 'the perfume of sins' in this connection] but I have difficulties tying anything of that to the actual lyrics of the song...I probably translated most of it wrong though anyway and I don't have my original edition yet which should come with english translations ^^. The blast beat took me really off guard! That sound was suddenly so different from everything I expected from Dir en grey 😂 But I think it fits the song very well. Listening to a new Dir en grey album is such a weird experience. I instantly loved all the songs on the album but especially with the two longer ones it will take a lot of listens to get behind the structure. I suddenly feel like I can relate more to reactors ^^' [somehow I didn't feel like that with their previous album...this one just appears so much more complex.] At the moment I would really love to see reactions to Utsutsu, Bouga wo Kurau and Mouai ni Shosu. Both are really fascinating song that captured me instantly at first listen. Thank you so much for doing this reaction! It's wonderful watching you listenin to them for the first time and hearing your innitial thoughts :) And I am sorry I haven't been on KZitem much these past weeks so I probably missed some of your reactions and didn't comment on the ones I watched just between/while doing other things u_u PS: I would love a reaction to Ochita koto no aru sora, as others recommended. I think I already send a link to this ones but I really love the live version, so here it is [again]: kzitem.info/news/bejne/zmZoy3lnoIiJiXo Have a great day Marty! 💜

I like your interpretation. Instead of focusing on the song or the lyrics (which doesn't really give out much at this moment) you had a wider, and more thorough look at the band itself. And you also had a different take on the Bull. I've read some interviews, Kyo never talked about this MV (maybe he talked about it in other interviews that I didn't read) but he talked about the emphasize of the album, the way he wanted the album to turn out and the way the album turned out. it would be impressive regarding the images in the video. Because Kyo stated that the album is the band's current worldview, which is different than previous albums in many ways. And Kyo did say that even the recording of the album was different than previous works. And for Kyo, who already had a specific image of the album in his mind, the change was natural (he stated that this worries him). And to think that all of this happens with Kyo naturally is just amazing. Your view of the Bull's skeleton might be right, or maybe it isn't the image Kyo intended. But either ways, that's what Kyo intended. He knows that people will have different takes on the album. He knows that each person will connect to the songs in their own way, which might be different than the way Kyo connects to his songs. Which gets us back to your point about how you can never know the impact of art on people. Btw, Kaoru and Die are live rn on Nico. They are talking about the album (they're be more open than Kyo) so we'll probably get more information about the MV and the album as whole

@@maximumthevolume6128 Thank you :) I didn't read through all the comments yesterday and missed yours :/ [I love reading through the comment section on reaction videos probably just as much as the reactions themselves. It's always so interesting to hear what people come up with and how they connect to a song :) But at the moment I am a bit stressed from real life stuff...anyway I just catched up on it :) You are totally right. Good art only works when the observer can put themself into it. The moment the artist reveals too much of their thoughts while creating the artwork/the meaning behind it etc. it looses its transcendent quality - you cannot properly look at it from your perspective any longer because you know that there is a fixed 'right' meaning behind it and that has nothing to do with you as the viewer/listener. So I am aware that everything I ever write is just my personal interpretation and that also changes constantly. But having a grasp of the lyrics always opens so many possibilities and to go just from the pv and the title felt a bit funny for an interpretation ^^' - especially since it seems to me that Dir en grey pv's often show a very narrow or very wide, sometimes even opposing take on the lyrics. But here it seems to be more about the album's title/the overall concept of the album. Thank you so much for your summery of the interview! I ordered the Phy and Massive but they probably won't arrive before the beginning of next month. I am really happy Shinya's video is still online! I will watch that one later ^~^ I love your view of the Bull and Kyo as one being. The vocalist as the vessel so to speak, arguing between purpose and freedom / 'right' and 'wrong'. The world/earth/nature - between natural catastrophes, climate change and diseases may very well appear like a serial killer but in that case he uses the word 'world' as a synecdoche for humanity [like you said] because as much as we act like we are the saints/the victims of earth a lot of so-called 'natural disasters' are man-made. So we can pretend to be blameless and do whatever it takes but come death and we will all reek of sin.

Cats have 9 lives. KZitem gear supposedly 1. Thankfully so far, it has managed to survive the cat's wrath. I thought i'd share with you a song called Shutting Down Our Town. It is from the 2019 Jimmy Barnes album My Criminal Record. Country singer Troy Casser-Daley had read the first of a number of books Jimmy wrote called Working Class Boy. I will tell you more about that book in future posts. Anyway so when he read that book he was so moved by it he wanted to wright a song with Jimmy about it. They nutted out the song which would be the first of all these other songs that made up the album and When Troy wrte it with him, Jimmy thought Troy captured how jim felt about the community he grew up in called Elizabeth which is a suburban area outside of Adelaide perfectly. I hear hints of it in the 2nd verse, but the song I think is mostly a tribute to a factory that made Holden cars for many years. It closed down in 2017 after every other place in the country already had like Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Ford. I would recommend the official video for this one, because what you see is a good insight into what the song is all about. There is a red car that you see snippets of in the video but you get a proper look at towards the end. It was the last car to be ever made. I feel strange in a way talking about cars, because I don't drive at the ripe old age of 35. Oh dear. How do you solve a problem like Damo? Just a little something for the Sound Of Music persons out there.

@@martymorris5676 What intrigues me about that one is a guy writing an angry letter, as you can see that paper mail is another example of how old the video is but, other than that you would see all them holes in the paper, it was how that guy released his tension. Now everyone has their way to vent, be it throwing a pillow around or thumping the table with both fists but relying on a holepunch to release a bit of anger, not really something I'm familiar with.
