Love you guys ❤️Where Have All The Flowers Gone? by Joan Baez. Some in the world think Americans love war because we seem to be in it....constantly. Our brothers, sons and fathers have died on foreign soils in war after God forsaken war. Russia is a dick. Not the people, the government. Anyway, I am so sorry you had to experience that. I think the song is written in the first person. A soldier who is dying in these mist covered mountains, his home now and forever. His thoughts are so poignant and powerful. He seems at peace with his ending while thinking of his brothers in arms and the world he is leaving behind. Sung so softly with that crying guitar, it is beyond heartbreaking. Impossible for me to listen to without tearing up.

My brother went up the river like in Apocalypse Now. It transformed him. He saw his friend blown up right beside him. We stayed in touch during the entire time he was in the service by letters. Helene here: George...I knew when you started to cry.....I remember your beautiful country and it’s war with Russia...I know a bit about the history of your part of the world...so beautiful but has seen so much suffering and sadness. The vast majority of Americans now living have no personal experience with war, but I know that you and your countrymen do. I cried along with you.....I so much wish that humanity could move past hate and violence .....our inheritance from our past that will prove our undoing if we cannot rise above it. The biggest compliment that I can pay Knopfler and his guitar work here is that he grabbed a good chunk of Gilmore’s mastery of his instrument, and made his guitar speak to us of sadness and regret and yearning for a better world.

Many musicians we're hard-working artists in a world that musicians made albums and most fans wanted that whole album not just one or two hits Brothers in Arms was groundbreaking as pure digital hi fidelity example of listening pleasure never experienced before by music lovers. Listening was now a experience of clean crisp multiple channels and if ever there was a reason to ditch your tape player and go out and buy a DVD player this album was it with the music video movement underway this was the Pinnacle of the digital music this song and album . If memory serves me well regardless of album being titled Brothers in Arms the song was not the first released hit but about the 4th and was nearly not released as a single. Not only is Mark Knopfler's guitar playing so beautifully expressive, but his abilities as a lyricist is like no-one I've ever heard in pop music before or since. The way he ties words together paints a picture, so meaningful and poetic. Mark is a highly intelligent and well spoken muso, unlike the majority (sorry to say, but it's true). He spent his early years as a journalist which I guess is where his wordsmith evolved from. He's no guitar shredder like Steve Vai or Malmstein, but he makes that guitar sing likes it's a living instrument. He also writes the music in such a masterful way and when you combine all that...........magic is created. Mark Knopfler is one the greatest musical genius' of a generation and very under-rated. Great reaction. Listen to Private Investigations.

Wow,, very few people can appreciate the devastation of war as can George and Frederick. They saw what war does to a country and it's people first hand even though they were young, they remember the suffering. I joined George and cried because I too felt in my soul what Mark wants to say in the words, in his masterfully constructed cords and in the way he played them.

The talent of great Mark Knopfler is not what he says but what he does say. He and his guitar are the same entity, when he does not sing his beautiful verses, the guitar says the rest. If you love that song you should listen of MK album outside dire straits. He is for me the most talented and guitar player in his generation

the first time I heard this song it made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. It resonates through your soul.

This song when released made me want to learn the guitar. My guitar playing all these years later is what's kept me going through bad times. Without Mark Knopfler, I think I would have given up.

best experience listening to music was to randomly sit down put on bros in arms coming out of those giant speakers that younger kids dont understand, mind blowing music that only vinyl and huge brown speakers can do. and the whole buildup and he comes in so softly , masterpiece song

Never apologize for showing your emotions. It's one thing humans have the ability to do but try not to. The wonderful part of music is it frees us from holding our emotions back. Peace!

How have you never heard of Dire Straights and Brothers in arms? I grew up with them in the 80's and even my kids to this day know all their music. Mark is a living legend song writer and musician!
