I certainly wouldn't say "nothing" but the bass certainly helps it along.

One of the best bass parts ever written. It's not super technical or anything but it perfectly complements the rest of the song and gives a perfect low end to the song.

Good cover. This is not as easy as it sounds. To the layman, it it pretty straight forward, and it is, except there are some clever nuances and ghost notes that need to be nailed to have that original feel. You seem to have nailed them all.

I use Elixir bass strings. Elixir Strings deliver the full range of bass tones, from fat, round lows to punchy mids and sweet top-end detail and the tone last 3-5x longer than ordinary strings

Hi there, I wanted to thank you for the excellent work on your videos. I quit playing about 25 years ago because life got in the way and a host of other medical reasons. About 2 years ago I started playing again and your visual aids have been a huge help in reminding me of so many bass lines and some that I never played exactly right. Sorry for the long post, but you deserve a big thank you from this subscriber. THANK YOU!

Thanks Fusion26 this video watching you play has taught me how to play Sultans of Swing, I love the 70's stuff you do...the link below is of an album by Aussie Rock/Pop band Daddy Cool, the bass in all the songs are great to hear, have a listen sometime and see if there's any songs you like. The Aussie Rock Anthem tune known by all Aussies is their song EAGLE ROCK. you should check Aussie 1970's-80's rock bands Cold Chisel; Australian Crawl; Rose Tattoo (song, Bad Boy For Love).....Cheers Aaron from Australia,

At last! A person who makes learning a bass line easy....and rewarding; The sound mix and camera angle are very good. One small request, really accent your left hand finger work so the viewer really has a good view of what fret you are playing. Other than that, more work like this....please.

The sound from your bass is so clear and powerful that I literally have to have my volume on extremely low as not to blow out my eardrums LOL. I love the sound so much :-). Parts of this tune remind me of the song “Go Your Own Way” by Fleewood Mack for some reason. My brother and I love to play that song on Guitar Hero, he plays the electric guitar part and I of course play the bass part :-D.

First heard Sultans of Swing when it was released in the Spring of 1979. It has to be one the coolest, funkiest, laid-back songs of all time. Pick Withers drumming, John Illsley's steady bass to hold the rhythm and Mark Knopfler's guitar riffs and lead break at the end !

practice a thing called walking bass where you do a 1, 2 pattern with your index and middle finger practice until you can do it at a reasonable speed without making the notes stacatto (cutting them off and making them short) then learning notes is easy

Get used to the fret board. Familiarize yourself. Make sure you practice some scales. Once you get root notes down it’s easy to lay down some groovy lines. You’ll get there my friend. It just takes some good time. It’s worth the music journey. I played piano for 13 years before I bought my first bass and let me tell you. WORTH IT.

Hi Fusion26 have you ever checked Australian band called AUSTRALIAN CRAWL they have some great late 70's and early 80's hits with great bass lines like Things Don't Seem, and Erroll. Also Australian band Cold Chisel, who rate as one of the top Aussie Rock Bands from the 1970's to now. check out some of their songs too with great bass lines. lastly, ROSE TATTOO were a great Aussie Rock band who kicked ass with a short bald-headed lead singer named Angry Anderson, I'd love to watch you play some of their songs, Cheers Aaron from Australia
