Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for this because it's a simple solution that actually addresses the fundamental physics of reverb and is an elegant solution. Regardless that there are people here who don't understand those concepts and were looking for a solution that said "click here, then click here, done." Pay no attention to them. You provided summary, demonstration, and theory in an excellent manner, and that's why this video is relevant 4 years later and applies to many DAW's. I thank you!

It's basically just the "initial delay" you have at 0ms that's being forced to a minimum of 11ms. It never occurred to me that the natural delay in "delay and reverb" can completely ignore a 11ms signal latency. Brilliant.

Pretty much, use your interface to direct monitor your dry vocals, and then use a send to hear just the reverb. Obviously the reverb has that latency but you can't really tell with reverb. This won't work with delay because of that latency.

How's it going David. I use Mixcraft and use it for looping. I have an issue where everything gets played back ahead of time (rushed). The only thing that has fixed this is setting the Asio buffer settings high, where I have a lot of input latency. Any advice on how to fix it where I have minimal latency, and the DAW loops everything on time? Subscribed, much appreciated!

OMG...thank you for confirming what I thought...that Ableton nor Audacity will let you hear vocal effects in your headphones while recording. I have been so frustrated with trying to figure all of this out for at least 6 months now, and am almost to the point of just giving up on this entire idea I had of recording my vocals to a backing track! It seems so easy. But I haven't even gotten to the recording yet because I want to hear effects while monitoring my recording! I sing professionally, and have been in the studio, but always had an engineer to make it all happen. I finally got all the right hardware and DAWS, but have been stuck here. I will definitely save this video and do what you say. I still do not understand why these DAWS can't do it. I have never had to lay down tracks with no effects in my headphones. Anyhoo...thanks a bunch, and I have subscribed and liked. Lil hugs

What If u want to use auto tunes?
@RayoBeatz
6 жыл бұрын
Just buy focusrite 2i2 it already has the dedicated processor in it practically delay free monitoring with a few tweaks you may have to do in the d.a.w itself and will monitor in real-time fx like autotune etc. you don't need anything fancy either only thing I would get is a whisper room or like mr.whats his name in the video has a treated acoustic room. If you want quality vocals you have to have a treated room or a booth period idgaf what anyone says you can record with a shitty $50 mic and if you have a tracked vocal with no floor noise and no background noise or feed back you can always send it to someone to mix and master your stems and have a solid song all shined up and polished.

@@ok52989 lol why are you recording with izotope nectar? of course you are going to get latency with that on just use autotune efx or antares then when you are mixing go back in and add the nectare processing or just use some low latency efx like protools eq etc that already comes with your daw cause if not your gonna get latancy

Great video! I have issues with stuttering and pops while monitoring effects in real time with Reaper, especially if I am trying to record. I am finding that the ReaVerb plugin that comes with Reaper uses a lot of CPU and trying to monitor in real time is causing me problems. The ReaVerbate plugin is way more stripped down, although not as powerful as ReaVerb, it can get the job done without stressing your CPU too much.
