Welcome to my channel, Space Remote Sensing and GIS. I hope you're all doing well. Today, we'll be diving into the process of creating gradient directions for studying urban expansion. Gradient direction refers to the direction of the steepest slope in the elevation data, which can help us understand the flow of urban expansion.
For example, imagine a city situated in a valley surrounded by hills. The gradient direction will show us how the city is expanding from the lower areas in the valley towards the higher elevations on the hills. By analyzing this, we can see the patterns and predict future growth areas.
In the next part of this series, I'll demonstrate how to calculate urban or built-up areas using these gradient directions and distances. This will help us quantify the extent of urban expansion over time. I hope you find these tutorials helpful. Thank you for watching!
