I use finger joints in almost every fine casework commission I take... but I would have never conceived of it in metal, bending the fingers to hold the pieces together. This is why you are great; your technical skills are one thing, but your design and creativity are masterful.

It's actually raised panel feature. It is offsetting the panel by 3/16". I thought it was a beading feature, but it's not. The dies are stepped dies.

I too remember old tin toys with folded tabs, usually through slots. Never a full length "box joint" like this. Very cool idea, as always. It would sure make shipping much easier.

So good I watched it twice. 💚 @jimmydiresta I think there’s an application for this kind of assembly for emergency and developing regions - a pallet of pre-cut pieces could easily be assembled with basic tools and provide enough stools/chairs/tables/desks etc to outfit a classroom or a refugee camp etc. It’s nice when all you need is a hammer. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Wow, originally thought you'd use your metal break to bend the joints and then weld in place, this is crazy detailed how each side locks the whole thing together. So clever.

In v2 I think you should cut the tabs on the inner lines also then lay in leather or rawhide before you bend the tabs over. Always a pleasure watching your work. Great job.

The concept looks really cool. I'd catch the sole of my boot and go flying if I tried using it as a step. Or rip my britches using it as a seat. If there is a failure mode, I'll stumble into it!!
