The sisal splicing is what really makes this piece. Awesome job on that. Most people I see try it can't keep the symmetry in the rope. Stronger than using metal because as it gets wet and stretched, the connection gets stronger while metal would be mostly the same pressure and not able to keep up with the changes in the rope over time. Also it looks much cleaner.

I hung one of those disk type swings in a tree in our backyard for my son this summer. The limb is about 30 ft off the ground so there is a HUGE amount of travel for the swing. If I really put effort into it I can push him higher than the roof of the house! Off topic I guess, but I love tree swings! Nice work.

This video scores on so many levels for me. First, I like the idea of using materials that would otherwise would have been wasted. Second, I quite like the creative ways Jimmy uses his tools. (Not that anything here was particularly out of the ordinary.) On his own channel he repeatedly advises viewers to, "Never do anything with your tools that you see me do with mine." Third, the quick splice of the cordage by braiding the end back into the line, that was excellent! I saw my pop do that at a hardware store with the end of a length of steel cable and I remember thinking it was genius! Great video and a great trip down memory lane! Total thumbs up! Thanks Jimmy!

One of the first projects I made as a boyat about 4 years old with my grandfather teaching me how to weave hemp rope for our rope swing. Ball game on the radio making a monkey knot at the base to grabrb so he and my father could whip us high into the air over the hill. Thanks for bringing up a great memory we had a single rope and a disk though not a log to laconic for an ADD kid.

if you use crazy glue on the ends of the rope, it makes it a lot easier to splice! almost makes a crazy glue needle. The ends get trimmed anyway. then white glue (or maybe wood glue) rubbed over the splice will keep it all nicey nicey.
