I remember after that OKC series a reporter at the press conference asked Durant about his defense on Dirk. Kevin's response was "the guy shoots one foot fadeaways" *shoulder shrug* Most unguardable shot since Kareem's sky hook.

Duncan could never guard Dirk. Mavs vs Spurs games were always decided by Jason terry for the Mavs or Tony Parker and Manu for the Spurs. Duncan will say it himself too, those guys have more respect for each other than maybe any opposing players of all time.
@dexarceo821
4 жыл бұрын
Duncan had more help than Dirk. Josh Howard isn't enough as well as Terry. They're not on the same level as Manu and Tony. Terry was pretty inconsistent and prone to commit turnovers in crunch time, too. Good thing they were able to sign JKidd to man the guard duties coz it's pretty clear early on that Terry and Devin can't. Then there's the signing of Marion which provided more versatility on the defensive end.

Kd avg 27 points for his career so far whereas dirk avg 21 and he leads him in every category, and is on pace to score more points in total, more championships and first team all nba etc... Dirk is great and all but kd definitely has the better career
@wongtayu6468

cocos hip hop nobody considers manu or dirk as the top players in their position but kd is in the convo as one of the best sf, kd also leads them in every individual category, facts dont care about your opinions lol
@rompus23
6 жыл бұрын
TaYu Wong So you feel the need to preach to someone about using facts and not their opinion, while you do the exact same thing that you were calling someone else out for doing. Lol. You claim that Durant has Dirk beat in every individual stat category which can only be your opinion, because that statement is factually untrue. I guess that you obviously didn't check the stats before you made a false statement. So here are the actual stats that are factually correct. Career stats (Regular season) Durant Dirk Points 27 Points 21 Rebounds 7 Rebounds 8 Field Goal % 49 Field Goal % 47 3 Point % 38 3 Point % 38 Assists 4 Assists 3 Blocks 1 Blocks 1 Career stats (Playoffs) Durant Dirk Points 28 Points 25 Rebounds 8 Rebounds 10 Field Goal % 47 Field Goal % 46 3 Point % 34 3 Point % 36 Assists 4 Assists 3 Blocks 1 Blocks 1 Obviously you can see that Durant isn't better than Dirk in every category. So like I said, your statement is factually incorrect. Durant has the edge in scoring, field goal percentage, and assists. Dirk has the edge in rebounding, 3 point percentage, and they're tied in blocks. Dirk averages a double double for his playoff career. Durant isn't close to doing that. In fact Dirk is in a group of only 5 or 6 players in history to average 25 or more points and 10 or more rebounds for a playoff career. Durant isn't one of the players in that group. How many championships did Durant win before he decided to join an all star team (Golden State)? None. Those OKC teams Durant played on were stacked with more talent than any team Dirk ever had, including the team Dirk took to the championship in 2011. Look Durant and Dirk are two of the best players to ever play the game, and first ballot hall of farmers. I really like Dirk, but I would probably give the edge to Durant, but it's much closer and not cut and dry like you say.
