For someone who is COMPLETELY new to modding, and in her fifties, this took me a while to get my head around, whilst also fixing the orraneous trip-ups that came along with my individual setup (like having to restart my Steam copy of Skyrim SE to allow SSEEdit (xEdit) to do it's thing), but I got there in the end and am so glad that I found YOUR modding series, rather than relied on fudging around different modding videos, as I was, trying out different things for myself. This is when I am so thankful for KZitem - there's always someone who does it better if you look hard enough. Thank you for sharing your knowledge - I, for one, am very grateful and appreciative.

Navmeshing is a beast of a topic in and of itself. In blackreach for example there's navmeshing poylgons floating in the air and stuck to those glowing fungus tendrils dangling from the roof. Bethesda did an absolute hatchet job in that regard and it's no small miracle NPC's can find there way around at all. In many cases a modder deleting Bethesda's default navmeshing is usually followed by them laying down a new one by hand to ensure NPC's can path smoothly. I can't count the number of house and quest mods broken by well intention mod users assuming just because TesEdit points to a change in navmeshing that there's an issue that needs to be resolved when the changes were the fix in the first place. I don't know why but most mod authors loath navmeshing so when i joined the modding community when Nexus mod's launched near '07 i took on the task of laying down navmeshing and did so without a single complaint for the better part of a decade and spanning two games. Then a couple of well meaning but ill informed mod authors released tools that made mod users feel like they were contributing to the community by making "fixes" to mods that had worked for years perfectly fine before they came along. Then within the span of a couple of months literally hundreds of mod authors got flooded with complaints that their mods were suddenly breaking only to find out it was because people had watched a Gohpervids tutorial on how to Tes5Edit and decided that a 15 minute tutorial mode them smarter then the people who were doing things hands on for years. The fact is it's perfectly fine and should be common practice to clean your own mods you made yourself but if it's not your mod you should leave them as-is.

major benefit of these bit by bit videos for someone like me are nuggets like this archiving of the cleaned setup...ive always been blessed to have overly adequate storage solutions so i respect my situation is not for everyone...but since the early days of Freelancer Modding ive been prone to zipping entire folder sets at once while setting up a mod configuration so if i mucked a setup i simply deleted the entire structure and unzipped the previous...works welll BUT ONLY IF YOU HAVE SPACE so not suggesting that for just anyone...but im weird...sometimes i have more fun modding a game than playing it at all...getting the mods to work together is more fun in some weird way...so back to this video...just this one nugget lets me create such an incremental start set for ANY experimentation i may decide to mess with...KUDOS mate and thnx in advance for more to come

Right after using SSE Edit Quick Auto Clean for the first time, I got this warning from MO2: "There are files in your overwrite mod (No guided fix) There are currently files in your Overwrite directory. These files are typically newly created files, usually generated by an external mod tool (i.e. Wrye Bash, xEdit, FNIS, ...). Creation Club ESL files will also end up here when downloaded. Any files in Overwrite will take top priority when loading your mod files and will always overwrite any other mod in your profile. It is recommended that you review the files in Overwrite and move any relevant files to a new or existing mod. You can do this by double-clicking the Overwrite mod and dragging files from the Overwrite window to a mod entry in the main mod list. It is also possible to move all current Overwrite files to a new mod by right-clicking on the Overwrite mod. Not all files in Overwrite need to be removed, but there are several reasons to do so. Some generated files will be directly related to the active mods in your profile and will be incompatible with different mod setups. Since Overwrite is always active, this could cause conflicts between profiles. Additionally, moving relevant game files into a normal mod will give you greater control over those files. Some files can live safely in Overwrite, such as basic logs and cache files. It is up to you to understand how best to manage these files. If you do not wish to see this warning and understand how to handle your Overwrite directory, you can open the Mod Organizer settings and disable this warning under the "Diagnose Basic" plugin configuration." Is this anything to worry about? I've gone ahead and turned off the warning in the settings like it suggested.

I may be mistaken, but my grandpappy taught me that ITM is a problem when: Mod 1 - modifies some stuff Mod 2 - has ITM records for the same stuff = anything Mod 1 modified that is ITM in 2 is going to be overwritten. Mod conflicts are a thing, but in this case they are happening for no reason.
@aielias89
4 жыл бұрын
What you are describing are just normal record overwrites between mods. ITM records are records that already exist in the base Skyrim.esm and therefore are just unnecessary duplicate edits in a mod. In he description you gave, the issue is that the records in Skyrim.esm are being overwritten by Mod 1 but Mod 2 reverts them back because they are duplicates of the ones found in Skyrim.esm. So yes, i guess you are describing the issue correctly. Still even if you didn't have Mod 1 for the time being, if you were to get it later and sorted it properly it would cause issues which is why it's best to just get rid of all ITM records of the get go. Especially those in the DLC which you already are using. :)

Fantastic Series, I hope you make a few more of these types! I've run into 2 issues so far while trying to install Mods. The first, I was when trying to install "Rudy ENB" There are a lot of different download options and they are rar files, so I am finding this one a lot more difficult, also, what If I want to try one of the many other options for Rudy ENB, if this mod install works like SKSE which I am not sure if it does, and if it does not show up in MO2 how do I switch between them. 2nd and last issue "Revenge Of the Enemies 2016 Modified SE" this Mod Req says: Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch and Wrye Bash. Now Wrye Bash seems to be another tool, but its a mod tool like Mo2, so In this case, I am taking it "Revenge Of the Enemies" is not compatible and thus not something we can use in our Mod Build?

Have you or anyone noticed that after cleaning a file (I wanted to test this out by cleaning one file, which was the Prometheus no snow under roof), it now takes about 6 to 10 seconds before the timer counts down when you use the "wait" (pressing T on Keyboard) feature? It wasn't always so. So what I did, was deleted that Prometheus mod, then reinstalled it to get that "hasn't been cleaned error" message (to revert back to how it was before), but now it still takes that 6 - 10 seconds before the timer counts down. EDIT: And now suddenly, as if by magic, everything is back to normal again. I wanted to do a test first of all, and I started a new game. I know it autosaves as soon as you step off that cart during the execution/character creation. No Pause at all, just a the super brief one like usual when it does any kind of save. I then hit the quicksave, pretty quick and normal like usual. I loaded up my main high level game and now it saves/quicksaves all quickly again. And when I use the wait feature, the counter starts after maybe a second at most, so everything is back to normal again. I'm also using original Prometheus no snow mod BEFORE I cleaned it mind you. I'm not using that SSEEDIT ever again LOL, but that could just be me?

If there are no plugins in overwrite it should all just be the SSEEdit Cashe, that is safe to delete. Hmm, unless MO2 is messing something up, which is unlikely, (I've never had any issues with the MO2 flags) they should be the white Lightning bolts because the DLC plugins are just one file and they're being overwritten. Make sure you're looking at the right thing. "DLC: DLCName" "non-mo" is what you should see them on.

Great video, but you where really fast at the end there. I needed to rewatch it several times to keep up with what you where doing. Still it's great stuff and I'm trying to learn as much as possible to make my game better in all aspects.

Okay, okay, this actually happened - you said "please consider liking and subscribing" and I just thought to myself for a brief moment there "well, if that helps such a great guy such as yourself, why not?". And so here was the story of this comment. Safety and Peace be upon you. Farewell.

Skyrim SE won't update if I turn off auto update on Steam and never load skyrim normally correct i.e running Skyrim through MO2 doesn't count as running Skyrim off Steam's client correct?

If you turn off auto update in steam, the game will only update once you tell it to in steam's download tab.

So I scrolled down quite a bit but didn't find an answer...You had us make a mod with updated masters (of the DLC's) but what happens when the DLC's are updated? Also I get this notice from LOOT (after I did the 1st SSEEDit QAC): "This plugin contains wild edits beyond ITM and UDR records and deleted navmeshes and may require additional manual cleaning to not interfere with other mods. Dawnguard.esm Wild Edits Cleaning Guide" Should that have been done before I created the "Clean Masters" mod?

My dlc content contained deleted files that can not be undeleted. Will they be replaced? Is this something I should be concerned with? If so is there a fix? Is that what your talking about in your pinned comment? Thanks for your series it has been instrumental to a total modding noob.

hey, after doing this cleaning, I get a notification: "There are files in your overwrite mod directory" When I click that notification, it says this: "There are currently files in your Overwrite directory. If you do not wish to see this warning and understand how to handle your Overwrite directory, you can open the Mod Organizer settings and disable this warning under the "Diagnose Basic" plugin configuration." I opened the "Overwrite" thing in the modlist, and sure enough, its got a bunch of stuff: a bunch of stuff named [modname].esp.backup.datetimestamp in a folder called SSEEdit Backups and a bunch of stuff named 1CDF3AC7_[modname]_esp_[alphanumeric]_more stuff in a folder called SSEEdit Cache The notification says these will overwrite my modlist, and in fact, I have a bunch of white lightning bolts on mods. Including some but not all of the mods I cleaned in SSEEdit, and also including a bunch I did not clean. Maybe these white lightning bolts are not related. All of them show up on mods with a date instead of a version, except for the Dawnguard, hearthfires, Dragonborn DLCs, which have a ightining bolt, but no version date or version number. My concern is that this means all my cleaning was pointless, since this overwrite thing is going to "... top priority when loading your mod files and will always overwrite any other mod in your profile." That's no good, right? There's a bunch of backups in there, which i think means backups of the mods before I cleaned them. Am i understanding this right? What do i do with these things?

Can I just download and clean the plugin of the mod first before installing it into my game?
@WhyIsTheMooseLoose

After I clean the "update" file, I get a triangle warning in MO2 stating "There are currently files in your Overwrite directory. These files are typically newly created files, usually generated by an external mod tool...". After the cleaning, I see my "update" file in my Data folder is updated, and a backup "update" file created under modding utilities -> MO2 -> overwrite -> SEEEdit Backups. The warning states that files in "overwrite" will take top priority when loading. So, do I need to delete what's in the "overwrite" folder for it to load with the cleaned version? Otherwise I've seen posts online about "dragging it to the mod that's creating it", but I'm not sure what that means. Appreciate any help (:

Install Mod from archive button... damn thats something from a previous vid isn't it... and I'm not even sure we use dthat button? This video moves over which button it is so fast! EDIT went back... yep didn't use this button previously. Thought I was going mad. When covering the mod install previouly it was done via dragging it into the download folder. So is there a reason why the install mod button is used instead of dragging to downloads? Also when I used 7ZIp my archive didn't look like yours but appears to have worked.. Other than that cheers.

Hit install mod from File menu (or cntl-M). then select zip file and install. Finally can move it up in window to just under core DLC's and they will turn to lightening bolts. (I was lost too until I saw your comment and looked for "Install Mod" feature) thanks!

When he clicks on the plus sign (5 minute mark) to add the new executable, his erases the previous one, mine doesn't. How do I get the new executable "Title", "Binary" and "Start in" to be empty?
