STEELY DAN TRIBUTE performs an alternative arrangement that comes across as more realistic, truthful, and unquestionably MORE LISTENABLE than the songwriter's hum-drum studio arrangement. The two women who are belting out this song, express an empathetic depth to this work that Steely Dan never, unfortunately, attained. I have never thought that this song was that great. To me, the Steely Dan classic has a "drag-down-tone" that is set to an entropic musical decent, leaving the listener bored and depressed because of Fagen/Becker's, 1973 studio arrangement. The two women singing make the song lyrics a more believable song-story. The TRIBUTE'S meticulous audio/video precision is further imbued with a soulful realism that the two TRIBUTE ladies add. The incredibly validating talents of the two women expand this classic and raise it to a level that portrays the entire song with more Credibility, more Feeling, more musical inertia, more song strength, and greater song Dynamics. Overall, when compared side-by-side, I would rather hear the TRIBUTE version with Fagen/Becker's admirable song meaning/content brought-to- life by the two powerful, soulful, and splendiferous voices that unite in this heartfelt 2010 live performance from Norway. When I listen to the song DIRTY WORKS, I would much prefer to hear the TRIBUTE'S updated offering and NOT the SD original version.

This is a loving and distinguished cover version. It is interesting enough by being very different and more bluesy than the original beginning with a good guitar solo. The female singers have different take on the song and that is good, it is almost embarrassingly raw. The horns section adds to the mixture. All in all great stuff. Greetings btw from London, England.

They chose to cover Steely Dan's 1993 tour version of this song rather than the studio recording from 1972. Nothing wrong with that. Gorgeous from beginning to end.

I've played with some famous bands from then. These folks are great. Like the girls' voices, too.I 'm having serious difficulties with the extremely negative comments. Must be non-musiciansand jealous they never got to sit down or stand with talents and would not know talent when they hear it.You have to have heard a lot of "BAD" to understand this is a good group..

Then only listen to what suits you. But give credit where credit is due. The whole band did great. Bet you're an armchair quarterback. It's easy to criticize when there's no 300# lineman thundering up to plant you in the ground.

Nice job, guys (and gals)...true to Steely Dan's most current live arrangement of the song (including female singers and embellishing the melody ad lib). I also don't understand the negative comments...didn't your mothers tell you "if you have have nothing good to say, shut your mouth". If I don't like a video or the performance/arrangement of a song, I just move on and don't spend my time trying to bring someone down. It tells me more about the insecurity and anger of the person who commented than the performance.

It seems, based on the comments I've read here, that most people do not realize that this "soulful" arrangement is coppied from the live version of this song that Steely Dan has been performing around the country since 2000. It is not a reimagining of the song by this tribute band, but a close replication of the version that the song's creators had been performing in concert for 10 years. I happen to think they did a nice job with it, but it is not the pictured group's invention.

I thought the music was excellent. I think the girls strayed too far from the original melody. You can add a few subtle changes in the melody without changing every line in the verse . The chorus was great. My favorite Dan song.

A wonderful cover! The naysayers should be ignored. My only critique is that the ladies' voices are a bit recessed too much in the mix. They are good enough that they need to be much more forward. The overall musicianship is highly professional; very polished.

Ok you're gonna slow jazz a SD classic. Ok, then get you a real good MALE singer and let those girls follow him. Something just didn't click on this version. Maybe it was the slow version, maybe the girl singers, I just don't know. It was a nice effort.
