Honestly we have made up our minds that if a film has a female main character, then the story must be about strong revolting character. We can't accept a movie/series which is based on normal 21st century working women, who are living their lives with problems faced by everyone. Four more shots is not that great, but we have to appreciate some changes that can be seen in the series like non stereotypical gay character, bisexuality, single mother etc. But instead of judging the actors on the basis of their acting we judge it, if it's based on the wrong fundamentals of feminism. If the sketch is showing women abusing casually, we say gaaliyo se empowerment nahi multi. Obiously we can't like a movie only because the main character is involved in casual sex, smoking, drinking, timepass karti hai. But humare liye ek achi female movie sirf woh hai jismain the female is fighting against the society and not the one jaha usse equality mil chuki hai.

Exactly!!! If a woman is playing a happy character then it can't be feminism.. 🙄People don't criticize veere di wedding Bcoz it's a poorly made film but Bcoz the girls are smoking or drinking... like wtf 😏feminism is all about the gaining control of our lives our bodies and the right to choose what's best for us.... Veere di wedding was such an airheaded film! I have seen so many amazing feminist movies like Lipstick under my Burkha or Smita Patil's Baazar or even Anarkali of Arrah which were so refreshingly amazing! Veere de wedding fails terribly in that front!

Why is it ok for men to have a movie where all the boys smoke drink party and talk about sex but if we make the same movie but make it women-centric it's considered a bad movie. Not all feminist movies have to be “deep”. If Veerey Di Wedding was a male-centric movie suddenly everyone would have lovedit and called it ahead of its time”.

@@kantasemwal5581 7 khoon maff is one of my favourite time pass movies I just learn to appriciate the movie more and more. Fashion nah it set the bar of cliche film industry based movie though yes some people really did perform very well and Idkw but I always feel like Kareena in heroin was trying her best to copy priyanka in fashion. Mary kom.......... Again too much mirch masala dal diya in a very genuinely inspirational and humble story, though fr a population that only watch biopics if they have masala its a good job done.

but why all women centric films are supposed to be about feminism? can't anyone digest an adult comedy film by women ... when there are thousands of male oriented films that doesn't make any sense ..are still blockbuster...???????

Well people complain that women were not given good roles in old movies which is wrong there are many movies that showcased women in strong role and nowadays we have films which are anchored with fake feminism and nothing else. So we should showcase movies with women which is real and in which the women are there to perform

Thanks for mentioning Angry Indian Goddesses...that movie is highly underrated. Its realistic and shows all kinds of badass women, women with sarees as well as women with shorts, business minded women as well as artistic women. A complete film full of emotions and awareness. Vere Di Wedding was such an epic flop n I am very frustrated with that movie. Wat were the actresses thinking while reading the script? Its nothing but 4 rich girls enjoying their lives.

Mother India shouldn't be compared to any of the movies. It's holy and way above any other movie. Once in 100 years such a film is made. Although it was a remake of Mehboob Khan's own movie Aurat, but his hardwork and Nargis' performance made it a benchmark. Anyone who doesn't know about it and then talks about woman centric movies is just a pretentious movie buff.

Rajjo is the scenario which push down every woman's character in its deep sense - While being truly charismatic and strong on the outer surface but totally dependent on the other (male) counterpart in the end of the day. Sure, we all are emotional beings but relying on the other person in anyway doesn't make you stand out in the crowd. Our emotional needs in the new generation is more focused on getting temporary satisfaction from the dopamine hits rather than the stability in life, a drive through the oxytocin. Veere Di Wedding, though I haven't watched it but by what have heard and seen from other reviewers and movie's analysts (thank you Jammy), it's totally a patch of shame compared to what it was marketed as. Four More Shots and this movie have their own differences in storyline, but plot... Same. And absurdities... Same. Male bashing... Same. Sexual liberation... Same. Smoking and drinking... Same. "Yeah! We're living our lives! YOLO!"... Same. "Though our choices for men/partner sucks, and maybe we're being stupid in many instances but we're still innocent because we're the emotional beings and they're not"... Same. "We all four are BFFs"... Same. (Last one's genuinely loving though) Sometimes we forget that "doing things" such as smoking, drinking, blowing, sexualising, celebrating, and more other meaningless efforts aren't an option to attain the equal position in the society; while "taking actions" such as being the leader, guiding people through strong principles, helping ones who are in need, dominating the outsmart hostile group with intelligence, reaching to the top of hierarchy in the society's development, being the role model to be able to do something for others in a meaningful way rather just looking after family and many more actions... Are something that we forget that makes you the worthy to be respectful among people than what you think on the surface is - because of overemotional thoughts, or better I should say, "self proclaimed and interested thoughts". Period.

Every country and society has their own flavours and so the people of it. The problem is these movies fail to portray the independent woman of this continent (as I am a Bangladeshi and most of Indian and Bangladeshi social stereotype matches). This ain't like we don't have such women and stories to talk about. These women centric movies are more like a story about American or European independent women with bit of cultural flavours thrown in. Film makers should take a close look at stories of this society and should try to tell them to audience with sensitivity so that it can has the impact we need to change the society. Piku,Pink, Queen, English vinglish, kahaani are one of those stories we can relate to both as audience and women.

Jammy you missed point on Veere de The movie focused on Female leads with no super star male leads. The point was you make your own mistakes rather then other making decisions for you how ever correct they may be. The arranged marriage is case in point where girls let parents decide as they know what is best for them. The point was even if the marriage failed or they ended up with wrong partners its the mistake they made and not their parents. I think these women centric movies are indicating a shift away from super star males in the future. Hopefully day of superstars and Khans would be behind us in the future.
