Flood events across the Eastern seaboard and inland Western Australia have dominated disaster legal assistance in 2022 and 2023. As we approach the end the year and prepare for what summer holds, this online forum is an opportunity to meet, reflect and share knowledge from various jurisdictions about disaster legal assistance.
Speakers from specialist and place-based services across Australia will present a mix of stories, observations, and lessons learned about their work in disaster legal help in 2023. There will be a series of short presentations by community lawyers in different states, followed by audience Q&A.
Topics will include flood response, legal need, data collection, and service coordination.
This free, online event is being co-organised by Community Legal Centres Queensland and The Federation of Community Legal Centres Victoria, with support from Community Legal Centres Australia. Colleagues from across the Australian legal assistance sector are warmly invited to attend.
