Egg head even found it in him to turn the volume down in respect for the sheer spectacle of what he just witnessed.

Im afraid this might be the best thing Ive ever played. I started in 1998 with a demo of Claw and then I realized that "this" will accompany me for the rest of my days. Now, Ill be 30 in a month, finishing PhD in physics yet still playing games, now even some coops with my fiancee. Im so happy and glad that all of this let me to be here now, writing to you, all having the same joy when passing the impossible composure check. GOTY ? Hah. For me its a game of the life (so far). I remember, I breathe the climate of Planescape:Torment, Fallout 2, Half Life, Diablo 2, HoMM3, World of Warcraft, Jagged Alliance 2 that I played for years and are still installed on my PC now. Dont get me wrong, modern times have also their moments with some newer things like Divinity 2, This War of Mine or Stellaris but still this, this game is insane. Still, I cant remember when was the last time I was crying with laughter over some game jokes (but feelings of being destroyed are unfortunately pretty common nowadays, like in mentioned above "This War of Mine") or had this wide array of emotions regarding pixels on a screen. A lot of time passed since Ive read a book this good as well. This is not just *a game*, its art.

@@InsanityPlusOne it missed goty but won best rpg, best narrative, and best indie at the VGA and will for sure bag many more titles this awards season. This a *huge* deal as it proves that there is a market for games like DE which incorporated a lot of things games devs avoid at all costs- political and psycholigical themes, long and complicated dialogue, absurd artwork and minimal to no combat. I know DE might not be for everyone but fuck this was like the detective novel and rpg game of my dreams as a political science student. And the fact that the devs have no experience in the industry whatsoever and are a bunch of high school dropouts and actual party people from europe makes it even cooler. And I wish that it encourages other devs to be more experimental and use video games as a medium of storytelling it has the potential to be.

@@rorococo. It may have lost their Game of the Year award but it is the actual game of the year, this year has had very few noteworthy releases then Disco Elysium rolls up at the end of the year to show us how much better it was that every other game this year... Also the VGA's awards have never been the ones to keep an eye on anyway since they've been a huge joke for the most part.

When I started playing this game I went into it fully serious, trying to be a dedicated logical investigator. After they game repeatedly insulted me for it, I just let my self get lost in the world, broadened my horizons and by the end of it, I wound up feeling like I had a deeply spiritual experience. But I always find myself coming back to this track, it's nothing amazing on its own, but the memory of it and all that surrounded it, the existential weight of the location and everything just makes it special.
