huge shout out to you ABB for everything you do for this community! absolutely respect the "don't ask me for the file" mentality. I create for ME, not for YOU (anyone besides me). I've invested a ton of time and a ton of hard-earned money in this over a period of 6+ years and I'm surely not going to give it away (or even share it) to the new-comer wanting to make a quick buck, and usually winds up with some idiot undercutting the entire market's supply and demand. Look at cutting boards and charcuterie boards! Every tom, dick, and harry, with a jig saw and $15 orbital sander from walmart is doing this anymore and exactly why I won't bother with it, not even for family and friends.

My plan is to get the Pergear 10W laser and when that becomes a source of regular income I will consider moving up...maybe. Thanks for all of your great advice. I love the course that you created. So glad I bought it. So much great information.

I have found your videos quite interesting and well done. Not sure if you are completely aware of how many small business or individuals with lasers are in your area that have lasers. It is a fair amount. With the market being flooded with lasers and CNC routers, and people not valuing their time it is difficult to compete with those that sell products for lower costs and undercut the market. The real key to making money in this industry is stepping up your game and producing items that are high quality and different than everyone else (just my opinion). Thunders are fantastic machines with top notch support. We have two CO2's and the fiber. You are always welcome to reach out if we can help with anything, as we are close.

Great video, a few different tips than the usual "laser business" ideas. I have been looking at getting one of their large beds to make my own custom packaging and inserts. Just like other tools, it opens up possibilities, sometimes so much you can be swarmed with ideas but no time to make it all.

I purchased my Thunder 35-100 to cut acrylic for the cnc accessories sold by (shameless plug) PwnCNC. However I had no idea how versatile! I laser it. It is MUCH easier to use than my cncs plus you don't have nearly as much work after the piece comes off the machine. My wife is selling to local stores and doing craft shows. It's like a way to print money 😅😂. The one recommendation I have is to buy a good laser. Of course I am going to recommend a Thunder Laser USA because I have one but there are other good machines. Do a lot of research and beware of companies who don't offer USA based sales and support.

Great tips. As someone with a CAD and CNC background, the only thing I'm missing is the money to buy a decent machine. 😂

Maybe you can start with a less expensive machine and work your way up to the machine you want?

@@AndyBirdBuilds that's currently the plan. But it's so hard when you're used to pushing run on a 200k CNC machine. 😁

@@AndyBirdBuilds I can get a used glow forge, it's the only thing I can afford. Is it junk?
@RoseKindred
Жыл бұрын
@@Gorilla_Jones My 2 cents, I wanted it when it was announced but I will now avoid that machine if possible. It is a little pricy for what you get, the laser is low-powered, but it is the cloud requirements that turn me away. I live in an area with spotty internet, when it goes down I would not be able to use the GlowPaperWeight. The nice thing is it has a smaller footprint than one of these machines, so if you are in an apartment that can be a good thing.

There's definitely a lot you can do with a huge expensive laser like that, but most of that can be done on a much less expensive diode laser. Then if you're successful you can afford to buy a big one like that. That's the adventure I'm starting out on now, to hopefully make some money with a 20 Watt diode laser so that I can work my way up to a fiber laser to engrave guns, and knives.

Hey Andy thanks for another great video. Ive had my Shapeoko for a couple years now and I think it was a lot to learn. In fact Im still learning a lot. Do you think that a laser has as big a learning curve?

Thanks for watching! I think you would find the learning curve of a laser easier after learning CNC.

Great contain, it gives us some ideas what to make. #4 Jewelry, I search on etsy there are tons. But it is more for svg file tho. When I type earrings wood too many svg show up. So I wonder jewelry is popular for physical product or svg? I know what svg is. I create it myself for cricut. I am thinking to buy thunderbolt but hesitate if selling earring physical product will work because there are tons of ppl selling cheap svg file instead. The market is so saturated now. what is your thought. Thank you.

You did a great video on the virtues of the xTool P2 but bought the Thunder Laser. You mentioned the GlowForge was too slow. Is the xTool P2 similar in speed to a Glowforge? Thanks
@AndyBirdBuilds
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing. The P2 is more powerful than the Glowforge from a laser wattage point of view and the P2 has true air assist which will help cut thicker materials as well.
