As a combat veteran living with PTSD, photography is my therapy. It is my creative outlet. It is the manner in which I meditate. After my surgery, I spent a lot of time in bed unable to engage the world with my camera. So, I did the next best thing, and I watched A LOT of landscape photography videos on KZitem.
A pattern emerged and I realized that I was gravitating towards certain photographers whose work resonated with me. When I say work, I don't mean their videos, I mean their actual photography...the finished images.
Long Exposure images & moody black and white images with heavy handed contrast are what I kept seeking out.
I've always enjoyed long exposure, and have dabbled in it from time to time. Now, I wish to go beyond the dabble, and fully explore the possibilities. Since recording this video, I've had two outings shooting long exposure that did not result in a new video, not because the outings bore no fruit, but because I was so immersed in the photography, and it was such a moment of catharsis, I completely forgot about anything relating to video...and Im not sorry.
Big thanks to Izzy Aubuleela, @IzzyAbuleelaPhotography your compendium of long exposure videos have been and continue to be a source of inspiration.
