I just love this actor, very much so. He was charming and very handsome. I admire him as a great actor. All that fuss and nonsense about his private life , after having read about him and seen many t v. programs and documentaries ( including the Arena's wonderful The Private Dirk Bogarde ) interviews and the lot, I do think is because he was a homosexual and that, regretfuly , still arises a lot of morbid interest towards his private persona. He wouldn' admit it openly in public for quite obvious reasons, and he was in his right to do so. His and his parter's long love relationship was extraordinarily beautiful.

Whatever it is charisma presence charm dirk had it in abundance plus he was an incredible actor so versatile. I was born in 1963 so two years after dirk made the film victim with Sylvia sums after14 years as a matinee idol he put his entire career on the line by making victim so many of his films I saw in film classes the servant accident death in Venice an incredibly brave and courageous man 23years after his death he is still terribly missed handsome debonair and charming dirk had it all

Thank you from me also. I fell in love with him at age 9, that’s 66 years ago. I still listen to his audiobooks narrated by him when I want perfect company, but I cannot understand why his nephew, Brock, who inherited his estate can’t see the commercial wisdom in contracting narrators to produce his entire book collection. Many of my age group would be willing customers.

Perhaps my standards are TOO high ,,, qua ' The Night Porter' ..,it is set in Vienna not Paris.,..... ...an appalling error for a soi-disant 'film expert '......0 tempora ,,O mores 🙁
