I hope you all enjoyed this little trip to document some of these one-room schoolhouses and I have much more to explore and document on the backroads coming up. There is so much to see out there and I enjoy preserving them in video for people to enjoy now and in the future. Thank you and have a great weekend!

Pretty cool video, Wade. It was nice to see the 3 different styles of construction on the schools. I'm surprised there was not vandalism or graffiti with them being accessible to the public. Awesome to think they were over 100 years old and still standing. Nice drone footage. Well done on the history commentary. Have a great day.

Thanks! It seems every school has its own style. So many surprises out there and it is fun to search and find them. Luckily some haven't been disturbed too much by people. I like to see just natural decay. Mostly made out of wood and standing over 100 years is great to see for sure. Take care!

Hi Wade. I remember growing up in Sturgeon County and going past those little signs that stated a school was there. If I remember correctly schools were 10 Km (6 miles) apart. In times past the students had to walk to school. We have it easier with School Buses. Have a Great Weekend. Thank you for Everything that you do to show the Buildings before they are gone.

Hi there! Yes I pass by so many signs of where all these schools used to be. Back then going to school was a bit tougher for sure haha and just things like heating the building would have been a chore. Thanks and I am glad you enjoy seeing these places as much as I do.

It is fun to search and document some of this forgotten history. You never know what you might find around the next corner. When possible I like to show the inside and it is not always possible but I try and document the best I can. Yes I like to picture when I am standing there what it must have been like back then and I always like the big windows on one side that most of the schoolhouses have and it is nice to see some of the remnants like chalkboards still left. Thanks so much!

This is a great idea Wade - your films will be a record of these evocative places What I don’t understand is that those schools seem to be miles from any other ruined buildings? Are they being maintained while other buildings have been left to disappear? Really enjoyed the atmosphere on this one 👍👍👍
@ExploringwithWade
2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! No these aren't being maintained. A lot of the time these rural schools were just in a central location in the community which might have been kms away from the nearest farms or homes. Communities were spread out over many kms. Other buildings and homes might have existed that may already be gone or were dismantled also. So much is gone from these early days that is why it is such a treat to still find the ones that are still standing. Take care!
