Thanks for the fun video and tips on oil change! I followed your direction and didn't have problems it was my first oil change on the bike. Decided I wanted to do these myself. I like that the 2023 has the oil filter and I also had to pour more in then was recommended it's a bit over middle of the dipstick spot but should be ok.

That's not a bad idea. I'm not sure if the crate could fully fold down with that. If I still had access to UHMW from my manufacturing days, I could have just used some of that. Some people have used cutting boards to mount other bags but not with a folding crate. Might give it a shot.
@texlee1640
Жыл бұрын
@@baldrider It's cool to see everyone's different approach to mounting these crates and even the differences in the crates they select. I am still torn between keeping the super usable, oversized factory rack or ditching it for the narrow version. I'll lose some functionality and the ability to two-up but it'll look a lot nicer haha.
@baldrider

@@texlee1640 Two-up isn't an option for me if I plan on ever going up even the slightest grade already being 220lbs. I don't think this crate will be permanent. I have large Nelson Rigg Tour bags I use on my Goldwing that may be used on the rack instead of the crate when the situation requires. Every bike I own ends up having at least one rack somewhere. I'm happy this one has it already.

While the paper oil filter is easier to maintain than the crankshaft mounted centrifugal oil filter that these engines have always had since the year dot, i still thing it is mostly a profit ploy🙁 as you have to change it more often than the 8,000 miles the centrifugal filter required! Also, if not serviced, the centrifugal filter was probably good for 10 to 12 thousand miles or more without a qualm! Also, as a safety FYI, should you mess with the handlebar clamps at any point, it is a Honda design thing where the clamps have a dot on the top clamps that should always face foreward, then you should do both upper bolts fully tight, then do the rear bolts pinch tight. If you inadvertantly get this ass about face in any way, your bars wont be securely clamped✅✅✅

I'm a bit concerned with the flat sheet metal support not having its corners and edges removed - that is a hidden chopping hatchet in this state. Some dampening material in between might also be point to upgrade. It sure will dampen noise and it will reduce vibration stress around the bolting areas. This is turning into a really nice ride.

I believe the back tyre needs to be touching the ground when you do check the oil level as this would have the oil level higher at the rear of the engine (this was the instructions given to US whom worked for Auspost) so try that and see if your oil is now 0.1 quart over fill (FYI Honda nz claim being over fill by that amount IS okay, I disagree but that’s MY opinion)

@IngOehman
Жыл бұрын
You didn’t do anything wrong, nor has Honda done! 😉 The engine has a certain amount of oil in it. The amount that Honda puts in when the bike is new. When you change oil however, you can’t drain 100% of the oil inside, so when you put in new oil, the amount will be less than 100%, and in the book you can read an approximation of the oil change amount. But if you drain it really, really well, you’ll need more. And that is a good thing! 👍 So basically - trust the stick! If it says “pour in more oil”, do it! If you can put in more than what the book says, you have drained the bike really well. Good for you! You don’t do sloppy oil-changes! 👍 The professional shops should learn from you. Draining the oil well means more percentage of fresh oil. The reason that Honda tell you to run the bike a few minutes and then wait some time before checking oil, it is because they want the best for you - they want you to make a very precise measurement - i.e. a measurement with oil in all the oil channels, but not to much on the inside walls of the engine. Sooo you should probably put just a tad more oil in it. 😉 Trust the measuring stick and always fill to max-line.
