There is a lot, indeed, unexplained about Safin. How did he survive the shooting. Many of us fanatics, like you point out, were speculating that he, like the novel Dr. No, had a heart on the left side. But they don't go there. How does he seem not to have aged after the PTS? His larger scheme is indeed not explained well. I think the filmmakers wanted a classic Bond megalomaniac like Stromberg and Drax but don't offer any explanation or how he affords what he is doing. Rami though plays him so creepy he's memorable. Maybe not Top Ten but good. I do agree that initially Safin was going to be Dr. No but they changed for some reason. Waltz was fine. It's not like he could have changed his low-key approach to the role. He had to commit to it. I liked Primo as a henchman. The bionic eye was a classic Bond henchman trait. Used beautifully to kill him. Orbuchev was great. Slimy but provided laughs. I think he was a classic Bond character. Ash "The Book of Mormon" was also amusing. As much as I liked Safin as a villain, it probably should have been Blofeld's film.

Isn't Daniel Craig and the other producers the true villains of No Time to Die? Given killing off James Bond and making such a pastiche of a movie despite having plenty of time and opportunity to fix it before its final release? And making Safin one of the weakest and underutilized of the Bond villains, not forgetting they also killed off Blofeld and Spectre only two movies into finally obtaining the rights to the names Blofeld, Spectre, etc? Eon and Craig managed to do what all the previous Bond villains couldn't, kill James Bond off unequivocally. The End...but James Bond will Return?

@thejamesbondshow9754

I can tell you very simply. 1. Purvis & Wade wrote a script. Craig loved it and helped work on it with ideas. 2. EON were looking for a Director, during discussions with Danny Boyle John Hodge was brought on and wrote the script with Danny & Johns idea. 3. Production began but Craig who had wanted Bond to die from his script with Purvis & Wade pushed for Bond to die in Danny's version. 4. Danny refused to kill Bond, he didn't want to be the director that killed James Bond. 5. So Danny Boyle left. 6. Cary fukunaga was hired on the agreement that he would kill James Bond and they then went back to Purvis and Wade's original script and then re-worked it with Cary fukunaga and then re-orked it again with Phoebe Waller Bridge. And there you have it. I do discuss all these topics at my channel the new James Bond show with Krazy Kajeevie. 😁🍸

It’s a Japanese Noh mask. It’s from Japanese opera, this design of his especially IS NOT Chinese at all. I wonder if they didn’t reveal him as Dr. No because he’s half German half Chinese and the Chinese government doesn’t like Chinese being the “bad guy” He seems like a mix of Dr. Shatterhand and Dr. No. He’s got the gun shot to the heart but survives as well. But the Garden of death, Castle of death and Japanese vibes are very Shatterhand. If they had made him a right hand man to Blofeld and broke him out of jail then Dr. No would make more sense because why would Dr. No want to kill Blofeld?

Primo switched sides after Spectre died . Take notice when Q is checking out the Data on the bionic eye: There is a scene when Logan Ash meets up with Primo in a cafe. Ash says something like "you know who ia am working for. We are offering you a job" or something like that. Logan Ash recruited Primo for Saffin! BTW: That was Blofeld´s Bionic eye Q check´s out. Blofeld used it to communicate with the rest of Spectre. That was the implant-eye he had in his right socket (which was damaged by the explosion in the previous movie) . His bionic eye was linked to Primos eyes. Primos eye was presented on that pillow that was carried around at the party. By talking into that eye people were directly talking to Blofeld and Blofeld was able to see what was going on elsewhere (e.g. the party). We see Primo taking the eye back in after the action at the Party starts.

Other cultural references - the plot reminds me a lot of the first Kingsman film. Bond's daughter watches Fantorangen, a popular Norwegian kids' programme. Madelaine Swan is a reference to the novels of Proust - In Remembrance of Times Past (À la recherche du temps perdus), and Swann's Way... which start with someone eating a Madelaine biscuit.

"How did he [Blofeld] coordinate all this from prison?" The weird prosthetic eyeball. They thought he was crazy, speaking to himself: but if you listen carefully, Blofeld is actually arranging his 'party' in Cuba via a two-way link with Primo. Its definitely weird, though. Its amazing how we got from the "grounded" 007 adventure of Casino Royale to bionic eyeballs and nanobots. Its a bit coo-coo.

Guys.. Primo gets recruited by Logan Ash to work for Safin after the death of Spectre.. we see it when Q is looking at Blofeld's eye. We cut to it during the Blofeld scene. What doesn't make sense is why he didn't die in the Cuba scene... and yes it is a virus storyline.. Heracles was developed by the Porton Down virology experts as a weaponized virus that only infects intended targets (through their specific DNA) after passing through the population. That's why Bond's toothbrush and the hair from Madeline's office are relevant to the plot. Once you have a person's DNA you can target them. The virus is then stolen and adjusted for Safin's needs (with the help of the expert that invented it) to betray and kill Spectre and be further developed to be a far broader and indiscriminate weapon targeting families and entire ethnicities. That is what they're doing in the farm and lab on the island. They're mass producing it. I don't know at which point the nanobots happened but it seems they were added to it after the lab raid before the Cuba scene because Q reveals it in M's office after they have an opportunity to investigate the murdered Spectre agents. Basically, the bad guys stole M's top secret unused virus, made it even more dangerous and now Bond has to blow up an island to save the world... and the writers TOTALLY over-complicated it so by the end nobody was really sure what was going on or what the bad guys motivations really were. I've seen it 6 times and I still can't figure it out. Sometimes you just need to have that piece of dialogue where he literally explains it so we all know what's going on and what a mad bastard he really is. "Mr Bond, with this technology I can hold the governments of the world to ransom.." or "Mr Bond, I'm going to give them the oblivion they secretly crave and wipe humans from the face of the planet" or "Mr Bond, I'm going to start a new arms race with my virus..." etc etc. Instead we get some vague stuff about "being tidy" and "playing God", some "buyers" on the way and a child on the loose. I don't get it. So, in the end although the writing was confused, the producers did actually make a spot on choice for a contemporary threat. A man made virus escaped from a lab anyone? I just wish that Bond had been near that lab in Wuhan in the autumn of 2019 and prevented the pandemic we actually had.

With all those things that happend/not happend over the years, it will be dificult but stil like to see your The Craig Reconstruction of Spectre. Also i am curious of your reflection after No Time To Die with have idea/expections of things you never shared before. Atleast after one view of NTTD i feel it feels more standalone, BUT REAL STORY that i expect going to be refeald in this movie not happend. For a moment when i walk out the cinema, i was thinking there give us finger again (Piss of Bondfans again) and Daniel Criag wil do another one or countuned there big plan with new Bond. Only thing that be left a litle bit from that bigger plan be Madeliene be play ball of Blofeld, but i expect OHMMS level with ''Vogel'' as some kind of Irma Bunt. Safin then turn out be a old patient who breaks loose and try to find his own cure with Madeliene. Of course you wil understand that Bond be next on the list as testperson. Billie Elish can have recorderd a new version of We Have All Time In World insteed of re-using Armstrong. Blofeld using people to start another war and at the end there have been a confrontation between Safin and Bond, but Blofeld killing Safin as gift for his brother and then escape with using Safin mask. Bond end with Felix, for exampe on one of the war ships.

Mr. Haphazard Stuff, what do you make of the idea that Craig's Bond ought to have been made with "bookend chronology" in mind? As in Casino Royale and QoS shows a fledgling 007 just starting out and those 2 ventures precede ALL the other Bond outings, then we get to Skyfall when he's seemingly already too old for the job because it actually takes place AFTER all the other Bond ventures, and then Spectre and NTTD come after? Of course, certain continuity details and key historical events referenced in all these movies prevents Craig's Bond from being one and the same as the others. But what do you make of the idea that Craig's Bond could've still been the same 007 if they kept in mind to not have certain details necessarily inherently contradict his Bond being one and the same, and the other details like technology and styles of a given era and different actors' likenesses in the part all serving as vague history? Or do you feel it was always better to have Craig's Bond be apart from the other(s) in whatever way it's done?

When Blowfeld's cage comes to a standstill in front of Bond the front slides open. Now why would something like that happen when he's caged in the first place? Did that just happen so Bond would be able to touch (and kill) Blowfeld? Why not have it allready open when the cage appears? It just looks silly.

Safin is such a pointless villain, his plan is vague and makes no sense, and it is unexplained what happened after he saved young Madeline. In the end he's just another scarred man seeking revenge, which he actually succeeds where Bond failed in wiping out SPECTRE. No Time to Die should of been a epic final confrontation with Blofeld in which he is totally wasted in the Craig era. The ending should of been a Sherlock Holmes/Moriarty climax in which it ends inconclusively. Not killing off James Bond! which was unforgivable.

The "Garden of Death" was the central killing field IN THE BOOK "You Only Live Twice" and is being run by Blofeld on the grounds of a walled Japanese castle. In the book Bond definitively kills Blofeld in the castle. The movie NTTD is WAY too long for a plot that lapses into near incoherence in the last third. The entire northern woods chase sequence should have been cut w Bond arriving after Madelaine's kidnapping w merely a quick cut revelatory scene of the child's bedroom to tip off Bond as to the existence of a daughter.This allows the tension to build far better for the final confrontation on the island. I rate this film as barely beating out Quantum which suffered from the writers strike. NTTD went through multiple writers, massive reshoots and apparently a near complete plot revision halfway through shooting. The result is a disappointing overlong mess. I say this as a 63 yr old lifelong fan. Of ALL the Bond films in the history of the franchise I personally put it deep in the bottom third.

the backstory i like from JBR explaining him, and i thought hes better than dominic greene and somewhat blowfeld, himself, i liked it, but man its funny how much the craig series followed the spy show 24, blonde bond, bower dies from a biochemical virus, his brother was behind all of the peoples deaths, but his dad is the villian, overall, everyone dies around him, sooner or later, his friend has the jeffrey wright raspy felix leiter voice, season 7 or 8 is not that great of a season like no time to die, everyone is connected one way or another.but the thing is 24 is better than most of craigs movies, except season 6-8 i guess, and another day, so similar, craig the worst actor on the planet, i believe, maybe casino royale was all luck, not much talking in his part, that blowfeld die is in the book but he cant pull it off, i know brosnan or dalton can, craig no, connery maybe, moore, somewhat, lazenby i can see, logan ash, sums up double crosses in 24 that happens alot even in the bad later moments, but man you can tell off that bat he is bad, there was a kid in licence to kill as an extra, when bond goes to felix house to see what happened to him. Not the best movie, and if this was the end of the franchise like my mother, or as i call her M said, i wouldnt doubt it i can say yup, but was it a good ending, not with craig, with anyone else, like a brosnan who is a better actor sure.
