Remember what Joseph Smith said: "I want to see truth in all its bearings and hug it to my bosom. I believe all that God ever revealed, and I never hear of a man being damned for believing too much; but they are damned for unbelief." I'm looking forward to hearing and reading more of the added perspective that can be gained about our Creator. The Spirit will tell each of us what aspects are worthwhile for our own journey; and so far, I believe there is much to be gained from the records so diligently preserved by this people.

I started making presentations on the Anishinabee people a few months back and have been finding some incredible things in language and scripture and culture, some I haven’t fully addressed openly yet, but now seeing Chief here on LDS channels all the sudden is such immense validation, I hope to meet with him sometime to either validate what I have come to learn personally or to even be corrected if necessary. I’m a little confused as to what he wants from the church. He Eludes to a threat of excommunication but that would not come from simply wanting to talk to leadership. I feel like he’s speaking around it a little but is he wanting the prophet and apostles to recognize authority outside of the church to perform temple rituals? Is he wanting official recognition of their scrolls as being canonized scripture? Does he want the church to stop claiming to be the One organization on earth with the authority to perform necessary ordinances? I don’t believe the restored church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is in a state of Apostasy so I will continue to follow those who the Lord has called to lead his church in these Latter Days.

I have the same questions. Based on his reaction about receiving the scrolls he was given it's clear to me that he's not receiving continuing revelation from God for the world. It's kinda reminiscent of the book of Omni. The information and sacred text in the scrolls could be highly valuable for both religious and cultural reasons. However, there seems to be a major reluctance to share the actual information. Instead we're just supposed to watch and pay attention to the tribe's actions? It's certainly all very interesting and I don't ignore the claims of having sacred texts but until there's a sharing, at least in part, of those texts then it's just a claim. A lot of people trash on Joseph Smith for not sharing the gold plates, but that's not what I'm asking for; Joseph did translate and share the Book of Mormon. I didn't need the actual scrolls as "evidence". I'd just like to know what lessons they teach.

He wants the church leadership to talk to the tribal leaders and their people about the relationship the tribes have with the Jews and those in Book of Mormon and recognize that relation and the similarities and their rights (they should have). The church has yet to do that but certain Jewish groups HAVE! Why hasn't the church?? That's what he's wondering and questioning. It might be due to fear which he alluded to. He's probably right.

i enjoy hearing from Chief Midegah. I heard about the Heartland model sometime made sense as I always thought that it wouod be difficult for Moroni to travel with so many plates. I also thought that the Meso-Amercia model held merit as well based on historical records and their religious beliefs (the white God who would come again and how they thought Columbus was he). I then figured out tuat realistically the Book of Mormon which includes the Jaredites from the Tower of Babel 2300 BC, Lehi and co 600 BC, various short records and finally Moroni approx 400 BC and covers a lot of land and the continent of the Americas. I have a Maori friend who went on holiday to Sourh America, she told me the locals expected her to speak the language as she looked like them, her hubby, not a member even said there was something in the Book of Mormon. Her comments gave a nod to the references in the Book of Mormons references to those who left to cross to the isles of the sea. Officially, the church wouldn't take a position on geography, although there has been theories in the past. Many people love history, archaeology, sociology, the science, which is a gift of learning given by God, a pursuit of truth. This is something I do disagree with Chief Midegah about, to tell someone to stop pursuing learning is wrong. Reach out to the Heartlanders and Meso-Amercian groups and share information. Also, the injustices done to the Indigenous people in Canada and the USA are appalling (I live in Australia, so I understand it to a degree as it is similar to our Indigenous communities). If he wants to explain, maybe do so in another podcast and don't blame those who weren't or aren't involved. This causes bad feelings, no-one needs to be made to feel guilty over something they didn't do in the past, we know this as members, it's fundamental to our teachings re Article of Faith no 2. Also, the same goes for relating their tribes religious beliefs in relation to LDS doctrine.

I celebrate the fact that the Lamanites will blossom as a rose in the last days, and we are here now! Don't pay attention to those who look for any reason to raise negative energy with slander, for they are the seed of Satan, and we have no time to give to that, as there is so much good going forward! More and more fruits from the tree of LIFE and more wisdom and knowledge coming to us every day, for the heavens are opened and HIS spirit is pouring down upon us. Will those scrolls be published? I hope so! Just a little edit: My ancestors came to the "New World" with the Pilgrims in the 1600's, (European). I married a "brother" of yours who, thanks to Hagoth, came in canoes from the Sandwich Islands to New Zealand...They call their council meeting houses a Wharenui. The Lord in his wisdom brought us together, a miracle in both of our lives...So, I am also of the House of Israel, not only because I am LDS, but because I am married into the family. When you consider how far Christianity was able to spread throughout the Old World over the course of 300+ years, why would anyone think that 300+ years of Christianity in the New World has to be confined to either one small location or another small location?!? Very interesting! Thank you! I believe we're all more connected than we realize. For instance, when Heber J. Grant dedicated Japan, he mentioned the blood of Nephi in that land. My father and his companion were the first two contemporary LDS missionaries on one of the small southern islands in Japan back in the early 70s (these people believed in a legend of a white bearded God who visited them long ago and promised to return). There's a lot of evidence to suggest Chinese area peoples were also in North America long ago (I asked my Asian history professor when I was in college 20 years ago and he acknowledged it was highly probable but it was a taboo subject within academia). There's a lot of evidence to suggest that some of the lost tribes were scattered throughout the UK and Scandinavia and that many of the early LDS converts actually descended from these people who, at least partially, descended from some of these lost tribes, including especially Ephraim (I actually believe others scattered beyond and eastward toward Russia and eventually back south, too--especially when we consider how widespread the Scandinavians' influence was, amongst other evidence of people's with Jewish customs in other areas. Ultimately, we are all one family and are more connected than we realize. My wife is Korean and I, a Utah LDS , with multiple early pioneer ancestors, descend from Scandinavia/UK/early American colonists. Things I've learned from my own research tell me, more than just my faith, that my wife and I share lineage--even if we have to back thousands of years before finding common ancestors. It's so cool to consider this concept of a single family as we prepare for the 2nd coming of our great "peacemaker" and Millenial peace to follow. Perhaps one day, maybe post-resurrection, we'll better understand the travels of our respective forefathers and realize the world was always smaller than we realized.

This has to be one of the best comments I have read in KZitem in my entire life. What an absolutely beautiful observation. I grew up in Provo and served my mission in Toronto Canada. I was extremely sheltered and naive. However I loved seeing people from all over the world getting along so well. It made me think the people in Utah were ignorant racist POS's. I'm now beginning to realize it's not that they were bad people is that they were lied to and deceived about their history. I fell in love with Korean food and was able to baptize a beautiful Korean girl named Minook Lee. I'll bet you have the best food ever at your home. Hopefully the spirit will guide us together one day. Especially considering my wife and I are moving from Texas to Orem in 2 weeks to take care of my mother. God bless🙏🏻

Wasn't this prophesied, that the Native Americans would come to the forefront? I grew up in NY, not a member of the church then, and I recognized some of the things Chief Midegah said from things I learned as a child. My grandfather said we had Onondaga heritage but I haven't found it yet. (Dead ends on 2 lines) On my mother's side I have Jewish heritage. This year the Hebraisms in the BOM really opened up to me after studying the OT more carefully. If we don't believe the link between the Native Americans and the Jews we can't possibly understand the BOM. The temple ceremony goes all the way back to the beginning. It was brought here. Nephi built a temple. We know that. So why deny the ceremony? This is exciting. I don't understand why people can't see it, even before hearing Chief Midegah. Restoration means restoration, which means bringing together things that were divided. I look forward to hearing more from him.

I'm pretty certain the remnants referred to many times will help the Lord's covenant people, so in that light I'm seeing it quite the opposite. In September on the 20th and 21st is a conference in Fond Du Lac Wisconsin where the scrolls will be publicly displayed along with presentations of related Book of Mormon topics and Anishinaabe history and culture.

The Two Cumorah Mesoamerican theory was created in 1917 by a member of the RLDS Church. It's completely false. Joseph Smith taught in the 1842 "Wentworth Letter" that the remnant of the Book of Mormon "are the Indians that now inhabit this country." Joseph Smith never taught there were Two Cumorahs nor taught the Maya were the people in The Book of Mormon. The Maya Civilization existed before, during and after the time period of The Book of Mormon. Similar to Egypt existing before, during and after The House of Israel was created and scattered. Not many know the Two Cumorah geography theory restricted to Mesoamerica was created in Independence, Missouri in 1917, including those in this video. Any mention of it then is purely bogus.

You know I’ve listened to the chief now on several shows and it all seems very promising but today’s discussion brought the spirit of George P Lee. He was very unclear as to what he was getting at. He was self contradictory and many seem to have come away very confused. This spirit here in this discussion was oddly passive aggressive and had no direction. Very discouraging like I said he started to sound like brother Lee at the end of his tenure.

1:08:21 "Our Division isn't real" Yesssss this is the gospel lesson right here! And " If ye are not one, ye are not mine". The good fruit or truthfullness of this is that first of all I kind of just knew a lot of these things but I have pieced them together over the years that we all (pretty much) have been trying to worship the same God, just by different names and Jesus Christ. But this makes me more excited to read my scriptures and to hear what the Prophet and apostles have to say next! Unity with Heavenly Father's restored church. Not division! By blood test I am Native American even though my great grandfather came from Mexico. It's very cool. He died on my Grandma's 16th Birthday so he never met any grandchildren.

Written records are ALWAYS so valuable to preserve and study. Hugh Nibley stated how anything written, is valuable. Writings directed by God, and yes, even for groups of deceptive purposes, writings give away truths about the group who writes them, with a time stamped snapshot of their immediate window of attitudes, purposes, motives, which over generations gives a context for understanding as well as proof of prophecy. I have read the first volume of the Menenhah records and found it valuable and spiritually edifying. I look forward to the prophesied times when peoples who gather to Zion shall bring their records with them and there shall be much love exchanged through having one another’s written records of sacred truths and historical miracles of mercies and wonders done by the power of God to preserve His covenant believers and those who witness of truth.

I hope their cultures and traditions can’t get preserved and documented before they get lost forever. I also hope they can integrate into American society. He seems to be wanting to side step the scientific process. If he has new information, then present it and help it to get documented. We can help with that, but it will take decades to be analyzed by scholars for legitimacy and value. If some of it is going to be added to the canon of the church from some of the scrolls, then the prophets will need a good long time to evaluate these things along with scholars. The process cannot be sidestepped. I agree that these things have not been studied enough and could get more attention.

I love what Midegah is talking about is impressive and I love what he is saying. I wish I had a day to spend with him. I will continue to follow up with what he is saying about the ancient inhabitants of this land. The history he brings up is illuminating. However, I am puzzled about, or want to dig deeper into his feelings and thoughts about the LDS church. Does he believe that the LDS church is the Lord’s kingdom here on earth? Was Joseph prophet of the Restoration? Is the Book of Mormon true? So, those questions may seem rhetorical to Midegah. In a sense because he talks with such great conviction about his own history , which I not only do not doubt, but am so impressed beyond words with his knowledge and what he is saying, but, for me, the Book of Mormon is the word of God. There is no ‘the Mormons weren’t far off’, but then claiming that the record brought forth came from God to the prophet of the restoration. There is no middle ground. If he wants to make the claim that individuals, whether in a position of authority, or not, are fallible, I am all onboard. I just would like to know more what he is saying. He has turned the ‘white man’s’ version of history upside down, as it should be, in regards to the native Americans. He is my brother. I hope he will continue to fight for all that he is pressing forward about. I just wish I could ask him more about everything he is bringing about. Truly amazing. God bless him.

He doesn't exactly align with LDS teachings. If I understood correctly he claims that there were people on the American continent that survived the flood in America. He also claims that this Garden River site up by Michigan is possibly more important than Adam Ondi-Ahman. He also claims that Europeans are not from the same stock as Natives, but the Gospel leaves open this possibility as Israel descends from Adam and Noah and are probably on all continents.

In my mind, we don’t need a scientific process to authenticate records that have an entire people voicing their chain of custody over them and authenticity. Just take them for what they are- a history of those people. Professor Anthon didn’t want to accept the record of the Book of Mormon because he also thought it needed more scholarship. But the record itself tells us to ask of God to determine its truthfulness.

I'm a LDS, but I am no one of authority, other than I, like every person stand under the Creator, a chikd of God. I grew up on a farm and I ran around a 2 sq forest for 8 years of my growing up years. That experience set me apart from the LDS Church, because I became a child of Nature, of the Creators World, and it made me separate in a Church that forgot Nature and the importance of the Creator's World in our teachings. LD Saints have forgotten that everything has a spirit, even when Jesus told us that the "Rocks would cry out" if the people didn't, on His entry into Jerusalem. We miss teaching when we don't know these things, like how Moses crossed the Red Sea on "dry" ground" How? We don't know how unless we understand the First Nations People's teaching that everything has a spirit. Moses hit the water with his staff, the authority of God and the water moved. Every molecule, because the molecules obeyed God. Swat a fly, doesn't it move because it has intelligence? After yrs running around the forest I was convinced that I wanted to be an Indian. But I honour those who are, and who were required to go through a life of genocide. I teach people what to eat in Nature and what they can use for medicine. I use God's weeds for healing myself, not man's chemical medicine. I am a child of the Creator's creation. I have known the Prophecy of the 7 Fires, and I await the day when the Creator finds it in His wisdom to connect me with those whom I can help try turn this sad World around.

Bruce Porter coined the term "matrilineal-patriarchy" and tells us Sarah chose Isaac and Rachel chose Jacob/Israel and Rebecca chose Joseph. Furthermore you already know from The Book of Mormon ".. _yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them. I agree that there has not been enough attention, devoted to the study of ancient America and the indigenous peoples. I believe the reason was because the protestant guard hated Joseph Smith and polygamy so much that they would practically ignore intentionally or throw away any evidence that seemed to support the Book of Mormon. we might be able to get the scientific establishment to start doing serious studies.

I actually asked him a bit about that in a point that wasn't in this video here. @@latter-daywatch Ah, okay...well I would agree with him on that point. Still, to whom do the Keys of the Kingdom belong and in whom is invested the Lord's Priesthood? Was the Great Apostasy merely aesthetic? The potential for this movement he seems to be heading up could be monumental if it gains traction. I find it weird he would criticize gatekeeping in the Church on the subject of worthiness or the Temple recommend, when there is even more stringent gatekeeping among the Indigenous people with regards to their Lodges and Medicine circles. I've known Medicine Givers who specified places they aren't permitted to go because their status is not high enough. I wonder if he opposes that too.
