Some years ago, I went to see my kids in GA and we went to a place that was, then, free camping, had no electricity and a community water place!! I was going to camp there and they were coming by to swim and grill/ eat but the 1st day I played a game of who can fill a trash bag for to see who was spending the night in the van with me and the rest sleeping in the tents!! 9 kids in all and 5 adults and 10 bags full of trash left that weekend!! My daughter was working at Dollar General and took all those trash bags to the dumpster there for me when they left that weekend!! I stayed the week and it felt like every day me and which ever kid spent the night with me was walking around and picking up trash!! The place now has a $5 a night fee and someone lives in a travel trailer that stays there!! We still enjoy going there and don't mind paying the little fee!! Because it's so much cleaner now!! Love the video ❤❤

It's very disheartening and scary. It's encouraging however, to see you two care and pick up what you safely can. Thanks for that!

I think when covid hit and everyone thought it would be great to go camping, it brought a lot of people who have no respect or investment in our beautiful forests. Kind of like the vandals at historic sites in Europe. As people build and live close to our parks, the more trashed they're going to be with locals using them as party places. Have some respect people!

If people continue to disrespect our forests, we may all lose the privilege to camp in wild spaces. When I collect other people's trash (w/gloves & grabber) I sometimes find credit card receipts. I snap a photo, contact local authorities, who then contact perpetrators by phone/mail.

That area is absolutely beautiful! It's much like the Canadian Pacific Northwest, hence, British Columbia. But the island, Vancouver Island, is even more beautiful! It's much more dense, like a tropical rainforest. However, the province of B.C. actually does have a rainforest on the mainland: (info copied form Google) The Great Bear Rainforest is a global treasure that covers 6.4 million hectares on British Columbia's north and central coast - equivalent in size to Ireland. All British Columbians have a stake in protecting it. Just google images of it. Isn't it too bad that not everyone thinks like we (the responsible people) do?

Maybe authorities that administrate these campgrounds and other natural spaces could somehow award people who pick up other people's crap. When better it would be able to force those that dump their waste to do a work crew to clean up other's waste (I would DNA could be extracted from their piles).

How is WA State for providing trash cans along the highways? I tend to pick up more garbage when I know I can dispose of it at a public dumpster/trash can. If I'm hitting the local Walmart trash can on the way in, I'll only grab what will fit in my little bag after a week of camping. The worst I have seen is trucker rest stop in AZ with a large dumpster. The surrounding countryside was littered with trash, like you had to work harder to drag your garbage down the road rather than put it in the dumpster.
@ThatRVOverThere
Ай бұрын
Trash cans are not prevalent other than outside stores, but I have to ask Aaron because I think we saw big dumpsters on the way up to this area. He always remembers that stuff lol. The truck stops with the dumpsters definitely have the most colorful hillsides. Thanks, Ralph!

It's always blown my mind for people to go out into nature and then trash it. You would think that since they're going out there they were doing it because of the beauty so why do they then leave all their trash behind? A grabber tool is a great investment. I keep one in my truck and clean up as much as I can. I'd hate for someone to see a trashed campsite and think I'm the one that did it.
@ThatRVOverThere

I think the same way. I don't want people to think we did it, so we clean up. We also clean up because we want these places to be available for everyone in the future. We saw a package of two grabbers at Home Depot the other day. I think we'll go back and get them. Thank you, Kent!
