OMG, they have jewelry on while working on the weapons! I recall in Nuke school forgetting to remove my watch and the instructor grabbing me by my watch band and parading me around the room. Now, I see the Pantex personnel working with all kinds of rings, etc on. LOL!

Think of all the precious metals recovered from a nuke! Gold, silver, platinum, each one is a treasure trove.
@vanguard9067

Not really enough per device, no more than 10-20 thousand pounds in total in the entire nuclear arsenal. I am sure the cost of separating the precious metals is far greater than their value.

And all of those are NOTHING in cost compared to plutonium. 😂 During the manhattan project, one of the scientists said they used a gold hemisphere as a door stop in one of the plutonium vaults. Because each plutonium button costs tens of millions of dollars whereas the gold cost maybe $100k. 😂

The scariest part is that they are unlikely to result in a nuclear detonation, therefore if you receive a lethal dose of radiation and don't die from it immediately, chance is high that you'll be held as a guinea pig for 1 week or more until you die. It's not that they do anything to you, but the pain is so excruciating and the chance of surviving a lethal dose so low that maintaining people alive in this stage is something near torture. I mean, even when we manage to do stem cell stuff to allow re-growth of tissue (and thus allow for recovery), it would still be a ridiculously painful, maddening experience. Heaps of ionizing radiation and the rabies virus are things you simply don't wanna come across, they are a magnitude worse than death.
