Nicely done. I bought my 2007 F bike at a pretty good price because it had been fitted with a lowering kit. It was a pretty simple job to replace that with used standard height bits but I went with progressive Hagon springs in the forks and had the second hand rear shock rebuilt. Centre and side stands also had to be replaced. When replacing the fork oil I leave the fork tubes in place too (like kerata3) but push down on the plug with an old leather working mallet that has a 1/2 inch dowel handle with a rounded end that fits into the small cup in the plug. The head of the mallet is easy to grip with one hand so I can flick the retainer out with a fine flat head screwdriver.

Thanks Geoff. Great to have some more advice. I can see how much easier it would be now to keep the forks on the bike when removing the plug. Much safer too as pushing down on the fork off the bike can easily lead to a slip and a very painful groin!

Good job! I usually take that top clip off while the fork tube is connected to tripletree. Just by pusing down by a screwdriver, I place a piece of bolt between the handlebar and the that plug under the clip. That way you can easly take it off without, second person's help. Good luck.

That’s a brilliant idea. When I come to changing to fork oil I will try that. I did wonder about keeping them in the yokes but thought even if I was able to push down that I wouldn’t be able to get the clip out. Using a bolt wedged in between the handlebar and the plug would work a treat. Thanks for the tip.

The best tool ever invented through the history of humankind is The Husband. BTW, next time, remove the circlip before the dismantling when the forks are fixed to the bridge sturdily. It is nice to ride a good bike. It is nicer to ride with people you love. It is Great to Fix something with Great Husband. Thanks for great Vid and Life with 650gs. Respect!

Thanks you. I’m trying to make sure I capture the bits that don’t always go according to plan 😂
