WHY DON'T PEOPLE NOTICE HOW AWESOME THIS WHOLE MOVIE IS?????? It may not have songs or any of the modern animation of today, but it has extraordinary effects and the music sounds like it's been handmade by the gods. With these facts, Atlantis the lost empire should have become just as popular as Frozen. But sadly, some people never even heard about this movie. 😔

In Frozen the Mountain Trolls have crystals necklaces, an comet came crashing down by the earths gravity pull an it’s glow could effect the earth by some strange way. People with connection to it are Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Tangled, and Frozen. In Norse mythology the only place that has crystals is Vanaheim. Star Wars has similar crystals are called Kyber crystals.

I keep feeling like the choir is like the crystal is playing all the voices of those that died in the destruction of Atlantis. I thought so too, but that might not be the case. When I watched the movie again, what happened at the end was, the shattered glass was infused with the energy. Rouke didn't just touch the thing, Milo also did. What milo did was cutting Rouke's flesh, and the energy entered the blood stream and it contaminated them. That is how he came to be. But even if he did turn from just touching her, he wouldn't die instantly. He becomes that crystal monster, didn't he?

I'm sort of curious as to why the crystal chose to go willingly with Rourke after merging with Kida. In the following scene, it looks almost as though it is complying with him, when it's clear it can do so much and just tear him a new one. Maybe it sensed Kida's insecurity, that she felt her people had fallen so far, so it interpreted it as being that the people had gone, that to return to the surface was the only way of keeping their legacy alive? And only when Milo tried to save her did it realise that it was better staying with its people?
@snowbird1381

Massive vibes of Nadia: Secret of Blue Water in this scene. This may as well *be* Nadia entering the Blue Water. It's also of note that Kida was actually quoting the Bible - "ALL WILL BE WELL. BE NOT AFRAID" is how many Bibical angels introduce themselves to us mortals. It's very easy to imagine that the Blue Water itself is a similar entity, and it is talking through Kida in that moment.

@rachel933

The crystal may have felt a disturbance or because the crystal had been closed off for so long. In the beginning of the movie, the crystal was up in the sky watching over the city and people would think more about it, but being closed off, people tend to forget. So basically what I think of it, is that the crystal wanted it's people and out in the open.

@newabolitionist7766

Earlier in the movie, the conversation between the King and Kida reveal their different perspectives about future of the civilization. Kida is eager to find out more about the past and how to bring Atlantis to its former glory because she feels like "our way of life is dying". The King argues "our way of life is preserved." Later, when he talks to Milo before he died, he talks about how when he was younger, he misused the power of the crystal. "In my arrogance, I sought to use it as a weapon of war. But its power proved too great. It overwhelmed us and it lead to our destruction." Maybe the "kings of the past" took the queen as a sacrifice to punish the king, but also in anticipation that Kida would grow up, commune with her mother through the crystal, learn the lessons of leadership that her father failed, become Queen and restore Atlantis. So somehow when Atlantis was destroyed/submerged, the crystal went into hiding. (Milo says "that's why you hid it beneath the city", after the king said that the crystal's power was too great). The King thought it was better that way because he feared the power that he had formerly misused. That is why he was so adamant that no one should see it.This is why he warned Roarke the crystal would destroy him. The King was willing to hide it even if it meant that the Atlantians permanently lost their knowledge and technological ability. He was desperate for his people to be at peace after witnessing the flood/destruction. This is where the differing philosophies of the king and his daughter are important. The King wanted it to stay hidden; Kida was called to restore it. Kida: "Our way of life is dying". King: "Our way of life is preserved. One way when you take the throne, you will understand". So was Atlantis in decline, or was it protected---from outside infiltration and from itself? In a way, both perspectives were right. The King was right to decide the society should "hibernate" and focus on peace rather than war and glory. Sometimes a society is at its pinnacle of power, and sometimes in needs to recede and focus inwardly. But Kida was also right that they could not hide forever or they would be lost forever. So she kept on searching for the secret (with Milo's help), searching for her history and searching to be reconnected her mother. Maybe this is why she chose to be kind/hospitable to the outsiders even when the King knew they were dangerous. She was eager for help to restore the kingdom, even if it meant help from outsiders. The King was not so sure, and was not willing to trust the help of people who were just as foolish as he had been. But the ancestors were calling to Kida (through her longing and instincts) that it was time for the crystal to be brought out of hiding so that the civilization could be restored. So when Kida merged with the crystal and the life-force of Atlantis was taken away, the Atlantean people were awakened out of their complacency to fight the mercenaries and reclaim their deity/life force/culture/power. So everything came full circle. The king was brought low, humbled and learned his lesson; he passed on his humility and caution to his daughter so she could be a better monarch than he was; Kida rose to the challenge of being new ruler who could synthesize the king's wisdom with her own ambition for the people to prosper; the society awoke to reclaim the past from the threat of the outside invaders. All the events of the movie came together to unite Kida with the ancestors. Between her desire to rediscover the past & restore their culture, Milo's curiosity and the greed of the mercenaries, the crystal set in motion events that would summon her back so she could merge with it and bring its power back to the people, restoring the former glory of the civilization...

@Olivija Strandjord No I know this. What I am saying is that the crystal controls kida so perhaps the crystal spoke through kida

The crystal will bond itself with one of royal blood in times of crisis in order to protect itself and the people of Atlantis. So effectively yes, the crystal took control of her, just like it did to her mother when the wave wiped out most of Atlantis.

Aquarius Tail the king explains that in times of danger, the crystal would bond with an Atlantean of royal blood to protect itself and the people. In the beginning of the movie, it chose Kida’s mother. Before the start of this clip, when the light sees her, she says mother in Atlantean, hearing the voice of her mother with all the other voices in the crystal. Being left down below away from people, the crystal probably sensed a disturbance. I feel like when the crystal became one with Kida, it probably saw into her heart and mind and learned what the strangers wanted and felt this would be how to help.

That is why he was so adamant that no one should see it. He was willing to hide it even if it meant that the Atlantians permanently lost their knowledge and technological ability. He was desperate for them to be at peace after witnessing the flood/destruction. This is where the differing philosophies of the king and his daughter are important. The King wanted it to stay hidden; Kida wanted to learn more. Kida: "Our way of life is dying". King: "Our way of life is preserved. One way when you take the throne, you will understand". In a way, they were both right. The King was right to decide the society should "hibernate" and focus on peace rather than war and glory. Sometimes a society is at its pinnacle of power, and sometimes in needs to recede and focus inwardly. Kida was also right that they could not hide forever or they would be lost forever. So she kept on searching for the secret, searching for her history and searching to be reconnected her mother. The ancestors were telling her (through her longing and instincts) that it was time for the crystal to be brought out of hiding so that the civilization could be restored. There you go!

Do Atlanteans have their own mythology too? The Atlanteans believe the Heart of Atlantis crystal were created by their Atlantean gods in their creation myth.

Why does the second movie look a little bad in terms of quality, cause the first one was amazing in music and video quality or am I the only one who thinks that?

I saw that, and researched it. The team for this film did not work on the sequel. I believe that the sequel--and others like it--are instead given to a junior team while the senior team focused on a brand-new project. You see that in video games too.

Because. When "stones" around the crystal begin to fall down you can see a protective barrier that is around Kida. Water cannot touch her. You can only imagine what would happen if someone would try to touch her and the crystal in her.
