Love your videos and content. I have some experience with traveling with seniors. I recently did a trip with my 80 yr old dad and adult kids. I agree 100% about the nap mid day. It is essential for the seniors and helpful for everyone when you are waking before 7am and sometimes touring until way after dark. Invest in a Disney hotel that you can easily return to for some rest time. And longer trips make it possible so that you can stay at your hotel that evening for dinner and not have to go back to a park. One of our days we planned to return to the hotel by 2 for a nap/rest, but because of broken down rides we had to stay in the park until 3:30 and by the time we got back to the hotel it was already 4pm and we were all just too exhausted to return, but we were able to modify as needed. As for scooters, they are very much needed. My dad logged 5,000 steps one day even WITH a scooter. You have to park and walk onto most rides, so there is still some standing and walking even if you use the scooter for most of the day. This is not the time to be brave! Rent the Scooter! Scooterbug is able to leave your scooter with your hotel's bell services even before you arrive. And renting once you get to the park is risky because they sell out, but also because there is a lot of walking getting from your room onto Disney Transporation (like monorail ramps and such) as well as sometimes it is a super long walk from your room itself. I remember one year our room at the Dophin was so far away that we were exhaused by the time we got out of the hotel to the boat dock. One last thing about scooters, they can be hard to drive after dark. Make sure yours has a headlight and even bring a light so that your group can easily find you in the dark. We brought battery operated Christmas lights to put on the scooter to make it easy to spot and it worked so well. My final advice is don't expect a "Do EVERYTHING" kind of trip with seniors. You will ride fewer rides and see more shows and enjoy nice meals as a family. This was my favorite trip because the pace was more relaxed and we just all really savored the experience. Also, the Polynesian was my favorite resort I've ever stayed at. It was so lush and tropical and just made coming back to the room such a pleasure.

Very good video. My mom and I are planing a vacation to Disney world. Tip for those who aren’t using a scooter, electric wheelchair or other mobility device. Don’t talk down to the person using the device. I’ve seen that in everyday life.

Great tips! Thank you! Planning a trip with my senior mom that can not walk long distances so I was thinking of bringing the wheelchair we got for her. For when she feels to tired to walk. Like if we go to the Dumbo ride, does the wheelchair fit the ride or a disney employee will put it aside?

For most rides, you have to park the scooter or wheelchair. If she can't walk at all, each ride has its own procedure for that. Thanks for watching/commenting!

Thank you for sharing. Looking for videos on seniors with food restrictions where to eat (no fried foods, non caffeinated beverages, vegetarian dishes) What can seniors do if they can't get on rides because of motion sickness... Or should they just stay home?

Park hopping gives way more flexibility. We stay on monorail loop, so the ability to visit MK any evening was important to us. Same when we stayed at Dolphin. Epcot has so many great restaurants that we could visit any afternoon.

Do you have a itinerary for adults , my kids are in there mid to upper 20 s and we are in our 50s . We have been 5 times and are going next week . I’m just trying to find a list of rides in order . It’s difficult to find adult itinerary’s. We are going to magic kingdom , Hollywood studios and animal kingdom only. I know the Star Wars rides need to be done at first thing in the morning. Thank you

These are all excellent tips, but I do disagree regarding the manual wheelchair being a bad idea. If you're going at a particularly crowded time of year, and the person you're traveling with does not have a lot of experience with using a scooter, the ECV can be troublesome. We unfortunately experienced this last year when we unknowingly visited during Jersey Week. Literally got stuck on a sidewalk on Main Street about an hour before the parade with angry folks yelling behind us. We simply couldn't get around a party parked in front of us because they were using a double stroller, and refused to move forward a little because they were afraid we were trying to steal their parade seat (after multiple times of saying we just needed to squeeze by). Eventually a CM did come and make them move, but it took almost 20 minutes to get that issue resolved. Other guests were calling us names, and someone even threw an empty popcorn bucket at our party because they were angry at the holdup. Directly after that, I called the company I rented from and switched to a manual wheelchair, and the whole experience was much better from there. No anxiety for my mom, nor the rest of the party. Yes, it was a little more physically strenous for me to push her, but I was capable, and it really made the experience much more relaxed. It also meant she was able to stay in her chair for several rides like Small World and The Seas, because it wasn't an ECV. Scooters are great, and they do lend themselves to independence for the person using it, but some queues are not ECV friendly (Rise, Haunted Mansion, Smuggler's Run), and CM are sometimes uncaring about not having a transfer wheelchair at the front of the queue to help with this. Just be aware that while Disney does make some accommodations for ECV users and people with mobility struggles, the amount of help or accommodation you will receive will depend on how willing CM are to help, and how willing other guests are to be patient.

I can understand this, 100% I just know I personally felt bad for the person pushing me in the manual chair. But I can see the other side of it. There are TONS of ECV at Disney and I have personally seen people stuck when its crowded. Getting treated as you did is just crazy and unacceptable, I don't understand how some can be so rude.
