Thanks so much for this video. Though my daughter is older now, i can see how it would have been extremely helpful for parents like me who have a kid with sensory issues who is extremely bothered by loud noises, strobe lights, and jerky movements. She has more than once had a terrible time on a ride that i thought would be fine. It’s a great way for a parent to preview what to expect! I would like to also mention that Gadget’s Go Coaster has several drops that could be scary. Also rides that move backwards can be nausea inducing too!

There really wouldn’t be enough content on rider swap only to create a video. I’m not sure what I’d say outside of what I already said in this one. For any ride you need to swap, speak to the cast member at the front and they’ll issue the waiting adult and another guest (if applicable) a free lightning lane that will become active by they time the first party gets off the ride standby. That’s it.

That's a great suggestion! I'm not sure when we'd get around to it, so I'll do you one better for right now and give you a full list here. For a day visit, where we aren't packing overnight, we make sure they have: --water bottles --snacks (more snacks than you think you need. You might anticipate buying snacks, but kids want snacks at inconvenient times, like the middle of a 40-minute wait standby line) --an extra change of clothes (accidents happen, even at a Disney) --PJs for changing them into before we head home (they fall asleep in the car) --For awhile, our youngest needed his stuffed panda with him all the time --When it's cold, we bring a blanket to bundle our youngest in the stroller (We are on the cusp of dropping the stroller at Disney. We still use it for all-day excursions, even though our youngest is 5 because it's a lot of walking for his little legs) --Sometimes we pack sandwiches for them for lunch, Disney kids meals are expensive and terrible. --Baby wipes are essential If I think of more, I'll let you know.

September through November is a fantastic time to come. You have either the Halloween or Christmas holidays going on, it’s still warm, and it’s less busy than Spring Break and Summer. You definitely need to book tickets ahead of time. You can book direct at Disneyland.com input your dates, and it’ll even give you hotel packages if you want to stay on property. There are loads of hotels just off site, too, but for a first time and coming from so far away, it may be simplest for you to just book through Disney and stay at one of their branded hotels. If you’d like someone to help you with booking, you can contact my friend Sarah Griffin, who is an authorized Disney Vacation Planner. She’ll book your hotel, tickets, reservations, make dining reservations for you, etc. all for free (she gets paid a commission, but it’s no extra cost to you, you’ll pay no more with her than you would booking direct with Disney). www.fairytalejourneysbysarah.com/ You can learn more about the company she works for here: fairytalejourneys.com

Our first time back since 2016 :D THANK YOU! :)
@SoCalDisneyDad

Have you seen my Genie+ video? It shares some helpful info on using it. We rode nearly every single lightning ride in both parks in a single day (minus a la cartes). With two days, you should have plenty of time to get it all in. If you can, be at the parks from rope drop to park close. And I’d recommend rope dropping the a la cartes (Rise of the Resistance and Radiator Springs Racers) if you want to save money. But be aware, both of those rides will likely have a minimum of 30-45 minute wait even rope dropping it. If you’d rather capitalize on your time, then pay the a la carte price and use the morning hours to ride rides with no waits. 8 AM to 10 AM and 10 PM to 12 AM will be your best hours for riding rides standby. If you can’t do park close, at a minimum make sure you rope drop both days. Here’s the Genie+ video: kzitem.info/news/bejne/pa-Ek5ikm5mqnag

And I agree about the Matterhorn wrecking your back. I have always loved it as a child and teen, but now that I'm 55 yrs old, it's not easy on the body anymore. There is one small drop towards the end of the ride. I think it's only a foot or two drop (so not even considered a drop) but I really felt that one. Pirates of the Caribbean has two drops with some splashes. Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes can kick up some water from paddling. Matterhorn splashes down into some water at the end but the chance of getting sprayed is minimal, yet can happen. Over in DCA, Grizzly River Run will get you soaked. Mickey’s Philharmagic squirts water at you during one scene. And that’s it as far as I can think of right now.

If you are only going two days, you may consider sticking with one park per day, just to maximize your total enjoyment of each park. My family and I hop every single visit, and sometimes we bounce back and forth multiple times in a day. That’s a fair point. Perhaps intensity isn’t the right word for Matterhorn, but as you said more a comfort thing? It is a mostly slow-ish coaster as coasters go. It’s just an extremely uncomfortable experience.

I'm the same with the teacups... give me a fast roller-coaster and I'm in my element but the teacups?..🤮

My kids love it, that’s my problem. I avoid them when I can though (the teacups, not my kids 😂).

Are you purchasing a package? It only works on packages, and not with tickets only or hotel only.

Get Away Today got back with me. The code is still active. They told me it only works on packages of 2 nights or more with at least a 2 day ticket. When I tried with this parameter it worked for me.
