Hi John, I just wanted to thank you and your team at Laramy-K for making these educational videos available for the public. I passed my ABO today and it wouldn't have been possible without your training and lessons. Even though I passed the exam, I am planning to continue to educate myself with your videos and website in order to become a competent optician. Thank you again!

Thank you for the great videos. I suggest checking the frame and nose pad fitting before serious visual assessment. Verify the fitting height and PD alignment. Adding face form and some pantoscopic tilt is usually helpful for 1st time wearers. Thank you again for the videos, they helped pass the Florida State License exam.

How to fit has been covered and troubleshooting is coming up. But a run through the OpticianWorks.com program might be a great idea for you.

Can you do a video about entry level vs high end progressive please. As a 1st time wearer i was puzzled on what to pick based on pictures showing differences in distortions from entry vs most expensive design.

If you nose around some more on our Laramy-K Optical KZitem library you'll find several other videos on progressives and one certainly covers that. (towards the end using PlayDough) If you can afford it generally the higher end stuff does provide you with a little extra "room." Nothing like the difference that the "pictures" show but better. If money is tight then these days even your entry level stuff from a better shop will be pretty darn good.

Glad you found it so. It is still a piece of plastic, no magic pixie dust. Still working within the math and physics of what a plastic lens can do. Probably a really great lens/design but all the marketing buzz-word nonsense doesn't change a thing - and you still need to do careful customer education.

Working on getting an appointment with my optometrist because I want to look into the option of progressive lenses. My distance vision is good but I need +1.50 for reading and I'm getting tired of putting glasses on every time I need to check my phone or a document. I'm trying to do as much research as possible so I know what to ask, etc. One issue I have is my non-dominant (right) eye does not align perfectly when I look down over my nose. If I look at myself in the mirror, and tilt my head back, I can see that my right eye is tilted down and inward, causing the image from that eye to be raised and tilted slightly. If tilt my eyes upward, or straight ahead, there are no issues, and if I cover my dominant eye, I have no problem moving/placing my non-dominant eye. I think the issue is I waited too long to get into readers, and I got used to squinting or using one eye to read small print. It's not an issue with the single vision reading glasses because I'm looking straight through the center of the lens (everything is clear and aligned in both eyes). I'm concerned with progressives I will struggle focusing through the bottom part of the lens where the ADD power will be. At my last eye exam, I did mention to them that I did feel a bit of difference in my non-dominant eye, but at the time (and as of now), I had never tried using progressive/bifocals, and I don't think I did a good job of explaining to them what I was experiencing. Any tips on how to make sure I get the right lenses? I've tried googling, and I've seen some premium progressive lenses claim they can be adjusted for eye dominance, but I am having a really hard time finding useful information.

Everyone's eyes turn in and down when reading. This is built into the design of a progressive lens. If yours is extreme then you will need to find a progressive design that allows for that and an electronic measuring device that can catch it. They are out there - I don't know of one off the top of my head. A lined bifocal would always be a good option. Maybe check out NeuroLens?
