before I fell into the kpop rabbit hole in 2018 I was (still am) a Michael Jackson fan since 2008, when you started talking about Jonghyun I couldn't relate more to this, it took me years and in all honesty even I have to remind others to celebrate his life and not just the day he passed, we all have the right to be sad but THERE ARE OTHER EMOTIONS YOU CAN ASSOCIATE WITH THAT PERSON BESIDES THAT god, had to drop this ty for this vid

kpop stans only seeing jjong for his death infuriates me so much hes one of the best vocalists hes an amazing performer and producer hes hilarious but people only use him for clout. same goes for all idols who passed, ik a girl who claimed to stan sulli but she only posted her when she was venting and when moonbin died she said ‘he was my comfort’ when she never ever talked about moonbin or astro at all. i saw someone talk about how sad jjongs death was on the INTERNET WAR PERFORMANCE. why cant ppl just remember them for their lives

just encountered this on reddit in regards to a group of moas claiming taehyun is jonghyun "reincarnated" just because they look alike, and because of that they fear for him becoming depressed and ending up like him?? as a SHINee fan since 2010 and a jonghyun bias, I just found that straight up inappropriate and disrespectful. hasn't he been through enough already? why can't they just let him rest and stop using his passing, legacy, and name for nonsensical clout, attention, and promotion.

South Korea needs to address mental health and have programs and doctors set up to help deal with depression and anxiety at the very minimum. Japan is also very inclusive and thus you have the Suicide Forest near Mt. Fuji, when people have lost all hope and had there been some safety nets in both Asian countries to keep people from harming themselves we would see a healther outlook on not even what I would call mental illness but just trying to cope without drinking one's self into liver failure. Some hard reforms need to be made in those countries. It seems as if the lack of crime is showing out in suicides. This may be better for society at large to not fear guns and violence. The US has some help, and we are recognizing that people that are normal need help at times. But so many gun violences are appalling. I don't understand the mindset of the people doing this in the US. I live here, I know the pressures but there are so many avenues to find help. You can't hardly get thru a death of a loved one without a bit of therapy or help, I know we are fragile. How people ever got thru the World Wars sane or not alcoholic I don't know, or is this the outcome of this trauma being passed on generationaly?

I lost a member of one of my favourite groups, 100%'s Seo Minwoo. He was only in his early thirties and passed away from cardiac arrest. I was so heartbroken and got disrespected because i was mourning someone that didnt know me and I feel for everyone who had to experience the same thing. Another one is TST's Yohan. To this day, his death still feels like a fever dream. It wasnt covered nearly as much as the other deaths in the industry and sometimes i forget that it even happened despite being a fan for years before that

As a fan of the three of them, I like to remind them for what they did. Same as you, when Jonghyun passed away I mourned him so hard and even got super sick that day. That was the physical reaction my body had to the news, that's how hard it hit me back then. Finally, after all this years ( and the same goes about KARA and f(X)) I can listen to their discography without crying; and even then there are some days that I still tear up. I genuinely think they would have like to be remembered as the smart, talented and incredibly brave people they were, and that is how I want to treat them and remember them. I finally could listened to She Is,that album to me has always been one of the greatest K-pop albums of all time, and I am so thankful about having it to enjoy it Also, seeing Hara's involvement in the Burning Sun scandal and how brave she was and what she did to help on the investigation made me respect her even more than I already did! What a woman! My favourite f(X) era is Red Light and to me that is Sulli's era. After all this time finally I could watch her fancams and relieved those moments! That is how I want to remember them!

finally someone who made a video about this. as a kamilla, meu and shawol i noticed that kpop stans will often be very performative about these idols. i've seen a yt short video titled "idols who have passed away" while using itzy's yeji crying as a....idek, reaction clip?? and i immidiately KNEW this was for the views purely. and then when moonbin passed away, i remember the day clearly of kpop stans who don't even gaf about neither shinnw or f(x) or kara posting their pictures next to moonbin like i'm sorry but that's so disgusting, wow, you got all the likes and rts are you happy? 💀 like they legit don't see any of these idols in question outside of the fact that they have passed away instead of *actual* human beings.

I really don't understand you're reasoning about Jonghyun being disrespected, coz he's not. Maybe trolls and bored people who have no knowledge of kpop leaves distasteful comments on media sites every now and then but most of the kpop fan community respects and has great things to say about him. If you think having no knowledge on who he is or what he's done is disrespect, then you're just being immature, biased, and entitled. It's 2024. The 2nd gen fans who stood by him and Shinee are now mothers, fathers, most have kids, in their mid to late 30's now and most likely have fell out of love of Kpop. You can't expect these new kpop fans to be educated on who he is and demand them to research about him other than knowing that he died young coz that is you selfishly teaching them how to be kpop fans and that's wrong. Don't be bitter if all they know is his sad death coz it's not their fault that they were only 3 year olds during Shinee's heydays and have no idea what kpop is. Fans have free will and they can choose what they want, educate themselves on only the groups they like, and enjoy the kpop songs they like and it goes to all genres of music. So yeah I just had to say that. Sad to hear that you're affected by his death. Hope you've been well. Peace

Okay, this is a crazy projection. I'm assuming you're new, considering how defensive this comment is, and that's my fault for not clarifying some things. The disrespect I was referring to was people taking images from his funeral ceremony and replacing his image with memes. Essentially making fun of his death. If you don't think that's disrespectful then ok, that's on you. Also, I'm not saying it's bad to be a new fan. I'm not criticizing not knowing things from previous generations. I'm criticizing people taking up space and conversations about him while also knowing very little about him and his career. If you aren't a Shinee fan or aren't a fan of Jonghyun, you don't have any business entering yourself into a conversation about him. Unless it's to learn more about him. But if all you can say is 'he died, and that's sad' then I'd rather you shut up. I promise you don't have to be a part of every conversation. Also a minor point, but second-gen was around ten years ago. A lot of 2nd gen fans are still pretty young. Like I'm in my early twenties, I just got into K-pop in elementary. Like no, we aren't all in our thirties with families. But regardless, age is irrelevant to my point.

@@bitterOrangish Imagine you're a hardcore Linkin Park fan and some song of them played on radio and a person who's same age as you, who also likes nu metal, but have never listened to them growing up just said that it's a great song and it's sad that Chester the vocalist died. Would you instantly get mad and go ballistic coz he don't know who Chester Bennington as an artist and tell them they have no right to talk about him? Imagine applying that reasoning to every artist in the world who died and every person who never heard of them. Are you demanding them to have the same outlook as you? That's not right. And that's not disrespect on their part. Again that is you being entitled. You want people to look at artists that you love the same way as you look at them. You're teaching kpop fans how to be kpop fans and that's just wrong. You're being entitled, sensitive, and just thinking about yourself and how you view the world. Though I get it that you're still young on your 20's, I'm sure in time you'll mature and have a broad perspective and understanding how life works. FTR I'm 36 now. I've been a kpop fan since 2007. Still is to this day. I've never seen any meme making fun of Jonghyun. You're prolly been hanging out too much in the internet or some underground forums that many kpop fans in general who aren't really that much of a fanatic really have no idea about. Don't judge people like me that I think that's funny coz common sense, it's not. Shinee is my little bro's all time fave kpop band and he know very well all the members. He got really sad and depressed for sometime after Jonghyun's death. But he doesn't get mad when some casual kpop watcher he meets only remember's Jonghyun's death when talking about Shinee. Would you judge my lil bro now that he isn't a true Shinee fan coz he reacted different than you? Coz I'mma tell you you'll be absolutely wrong lol and it's on you if you'll have a problem with that. And I was pertaining to the age group of the 2nd gen idols themselves which are born in the late 80's and mid 90's that's why I said that as of today, most fans of them are in their mid 30's now, which is true. I went to a Shinee concert with my brother in Japan early this year and most people who've watch are adults. I assume they are the their loyal fans. I never really seen that many teenagers and young adults though yeah there are still new fans. I just wanted you to know that you can't expect every people, in this instance, kpop fans to view the kpop world same as yours. That's not how the world works. Being calm, unentitled, level headed, and having a mature understanding in life goes a long way.

@@joeblack7326 Hate to be the one to break it to you but the internet is a huge place. Massive actually. Just cause you didn't see something, doesn't mean it didn't happen. You are actually not the center of the universe. It was on Twitter, not some hidden Reddit forum. But front-facing Twitter. I didn't even have Twitter then and I still saw the memes. You just weren't keeping up with K-pop news, and that's fine, but then don't go speaking with any authority on what did and didn't happen. You clearly don't know what happened because you didn't keep up with it. Also for your hypothetical scenario, I wouldn't go ballistic but I would think you're stupid. If we are talking or listening to an artist you know I like and feel the need to bring up the fact that they're dead, then I'd think you have worms from brains. Not only does this stall any conversation, but it's such a weird thing to point out. Are you purposefully trying to make me sad? that's bizarre behaviour. I wouldn't talk to you anymore, especially not about this artist. If you think that's harsh, okay, I'm harsh. Now what? Also being entitled because I don't want one of my favorite artists to be reduced to their death is absolutely insane. I hope I never change the opinion that people deserve to be remembered for more than just how they died. To do otherwise is so dehumanizing.

@@bitterOrangish Nah sorry but you're clearly just overreacting and being sensitive coz obviously you've invested so much on an artist who doesn't even know you personally and the majority part of your life revolves around this Kpop fandom and you're living most of your life in the internet. That's why you expect everyone to view the kpop world as how you see it. That's all what I'm getting out of this. Nothing wrong with it though, Kpop indeed sells fantasy. If that gives you an escape and live in a make believe world with all your ideologies and outlook, then I can respect that. I just wanted to point out that reality doesn't work that way. Just because someone doesn't have the awareness, knowledge, and ideologies you have in your make believe reality doesn't automatically makes them disrespectful to the artist or stupid. It's you being immature, entitled, and a reflection of you not having much experiences in real life.

By dating this boyfriend, Hyuna disrespects all the burning sun sex scandal victims. He was involved in the scandal and was a part of the chatroom where his idol friends shared illegal videos of vulnerable females in the most compromising situations. He viewed and discussed the shared videos, knew it was happening, and did nothing. As the saying goes, silence in the face of evil is itself evil. So, yes, HyunA deserves backlash and hate.
