Lord Okkult Lacerator A common misconception is that Nödtveidt wrote every song in Dissection. Actually most of these "hard parts" that make you be like "hey, it's Dissection" were written by John Zwetsloot, so I think that you should redirect your praise :D
@deadliestassassin3092
5 жыл бұрын
Hypocricide Yep definitely. John Zwetsloot was a big part of the early days of Dissection. On the Somberlain album he wrote and composed the Acoustic instrumental pieces and co wrote a few of the heavy songs with Jon. The song here he plays is from Storm of the Light's Bane which Zwetsloot co wrote and Retribution - Storm of the Lights Bane is the other song he helped write on the album. But he wasnt really involved too much else on that album as he already left to do Cardinal Sin and helped form the Haunted. So all in all between those 2 full lengths Nödtveidt wrote 4 by himself, 6 with Zwetsloot, 1 with Palmdahl, 1 with Öhman, 3 with Norman. The 3 Zwetsloot classical pieces performed by Zwetsloot. Johan Norman doesn't get much credit for that 2nd album either.

To be fair there are some minor errors in the interlude that I see everyone get wrong. On the latter half of the first riff the record goes C A B A, while every tab and cover I’ve seen has C F# B F#. Minor thing but yeah. Can’t believe I never noticed it before. Clear as day in some live versions.

@@deadliestassassin3092 I know Im late but there was a lot going on behind the scenes that most of us dont know. I had the pleasure of meeting Jon before he died and John Zwetsloot after Jon's death. John still got sent Dissection material even after he left the band and there is alot that is unreleased that IMO is better than anything Dissection has done. So not saying John wrote stuff after leaving but he certainly was a part of the ones taking part and giving feedback about new material.

Nearly perfect, all though the part at 9:29 isn’t the original way of playing that specific lick from what I heard in the live performance and studio track, regardless that’s a good alternative way of playing it and you do an excellent job of teaching this song.

wtf do you mean by d standard, DGCFAD? then yes you can do it. The song will be whole step down, even more evil, hehe. You still can try to play it in DADGBE (that's actual drop tuning), just tranpose the whole thing , except 6th string, 2 frets down. Or just..you know,...tune to standard...

If you haven't figured it out yet, or for anyone else confused, you're doing a Down, Up, Down, Down motion. He's starting with a downstrum on the D, then hitting the first note on the A on the upstrum, then the second on the A on the downstrum, then back to the D in the same motion.
