Hi, could a 50 pound bag of urea be mixed in a 55 gallon drum or is something bigger like a 275 gallon bin better for a 50 pound bag?

Is the urea bad for the sprayer? do you have to clean it out afterwards? My video request is next time you clean out your calf shed can you make a video of that please , i think i remember you saying your neighbour does it with a bobcat

RickyJames85 I haven’t had to replace the pump yet and we’ve been spraying urea on for 5 years now. But I would expect to replace the pump at some point. I do try to wash the sprayer out sometimes

Good explanation, how much pasture response do you get from the urea application and how often do you apply urea
@FamilyFarmingandFun
5 жыл бұрын
Russell Jonrd I forgot to mention that we are applying gibberelic acid at the same time. I don’t measure the pasture but if we didn’t spray nitrogen and gibberelic acid while it’s cold we would run out of grass. So yes we do get a good response. We apply behind the cows. Thanks for the question

How can i feed liquid fertiliser out of 1000ltr tank on rippers and easily regulate to individual tynes at set rate per acre to berry in the ground for crops

Very interesting. Same principle as I apply on golf greens more or less. We call it "spoon feeding" nitrogen. Essentially I divide the total N for the growing season by 12 and spray 1/12th the total every two weeks. Roughly 2.2kg of N per hectare is very little N so you're doing quite well. Quick responding this way with very little chance of any burning.

Jeff Smith yeah less wastage and leaching too. I sprayed half of one paddock recently and in three weeks the sprayed half grow a extra 400 kg of dry mater

@@FamilyFarmingandFun exactly. I've always thought if people read a couple studies on how much leaching occurs when dumping nitrogen in large amounts a couple times a year, they would happily put in the extra effort to minimize it. It's money down the drain. I don't dissolve urea to make my N fertilizer because if I were to make a mistake and burn even small areas it would cost me dearly, but it's a very interesting process.

@@jeffsmith825 If you don't dissolve the urea, how do you apply it to the greens? Also, at what application rate do you apply? Do you apply to fairways etc too? What application rate do you use? Sorry for all the questions, interested to know though!

What would be the mixture for a gallon sprayer? How long would you spray the plants with urea in a liquid form? Thanks and great video

BairCichlids I’m not sure about a mixture for a gallon sprayer. We only work in litres. I spray it till it warms up or till the grass is growing. Hope that answers your question

Please don’t carry your child at the back of your tractor. It’s far too dangerous..I cringed. More children have been killed that way and while it is very cute and the bonding is great.. but the risks are far too great and you don’t want to see your lovely child seriously injured, maimed for life or even dead.. Sorry, but this is what I saw when I watched your video.. 4 years later but hopefully not to late for you and you wife and lovely child…

Is there any loss of Nitrogen when you dissolve it in water, or does it all stay in there until the water evaporates after spraying?
@FamilyFarmingandFun

Ken Tichy I’m not sure, if you leave it in the drum with water for a long period of time with warmer weather I’m sure some would evaporate

@FamilyFarmingandFun

downbntout I haven’t done any research on that, but I don’t think it has any bad effects on the soil. Because we spray it on in small amount and it lands straight on the leaf and is used straight away. Thanks for the question hope that helps
