Thank you so much for listening to this piece in it's entirety before commenting on it's content. It's such a profoundly beautiful vocal, as well as visual experience, that it really has to be listened to in it's entirety to be properly appreciated. Whatever Disturbed's genre may be, (and this piece doesn't even scratch the surface!), an incredible performance should always be appreciated.

I've seen this video a hundred times and it is heart wrenching. I cry each time. There is something visceral in David's voice that grabs you and wrings out every emotion until you are spent. The Simon and Garfunkel version was the appetizer, Disturbed's version is the entire meal.

I’ve said it before, it’s almost a religious experience. It fits and sits right with every emotion. It starts off calm and balanced, it gains momentum and power, then comes love, despair and the pain that they invoke…. Then the moment that it all slips away leaving the hollow emptiness of devastation and gut wrenching finality. Beautiful, powerful and jaw droppingly thought provoking.

Thank you for your thoughtful reaction AND for replaying the song. It's remarkable. He's shown us that we've failed but there's still time to get it right.

I’ve been a lover of this song since I was a child, my older brother would play this and ‘Bridge over troubled waters’ over and over and over. I got the meaning at a very young age. I heard it again in the ‘Watchmen’ movie which started it all again ❤️ HOWEVER I discovered this version and the live version from the Conan O’Brien show only a few days ago and it has really touched my soul. I can’t stop listening to it. Simon and Garfunkel’s version was a soft warning of what may come and this is anger that we’ve let it happen. Magical 🙏 It has opened my heart and soul. Let’s start listening to our hearts, souls and each other brothers and sisters before the silence becomes permanent 😡. Thank you for playing it my friend I believe you got the message 🙏❤️.

I am 76 and remember when this came out and was played on the radio. I did not really understand it then. About a year ago, I came across the video of Disturbed. After that video, I called my younger son and asked him to listen to it and told him that I had finally understood the song. I agree with others that Simon & Garfunkel sang a warning while David is angry that we, as a society, have ignored that warning.

I’ve seen dozens of reactions of this song/video, I like this kind of reaction the best. Reactions where the tuber feels the power of the song and get emotional. Tired of vocal coaches breaking down his voice and the video. They say things like “did you hear what he did with his voice?” Or “see the way he scrunches up his face?” They don’t feel the song, they’re just breaking it down. Perfect example of “Hearing without listening” You however, were listening to the music, feeling the lyrics and feeling the power of the vocals. Great reaction 🤙🏽

That feeling that welled up in you is the realization that something two artists tried to point out in the sixties through a song is still ( and may be worse) relevant today. "people hearing without listening" -- the current divide in our country "people bowed and prayed to the neon god they made" -- get you information from one source only never looking elsewhere. Paul & Art sang us a warning long ago David hammered home the fact that we did not heed the warning.

I have watched MANY reaction and review videos of this song because its one of m y all time favorites and may be the best vocal and PARTICULARLY the arrangement as he subtly paints layers on his canvas, which appears to be black to start, not stark white like. most. This song is maybe more relevant than when it was written and I think that is what makes it so timeless. These issues of communication (or lack thereof) must stop or we WILL end up somewhere we don't want to be as humans on this Earth. Thank you for saying what I have been feeling in a way which is much more elegant and poignant than what I could have done. (As you can see I tend to ramble when Im emotional)

The very beginning of the video when a lot of people think there is something wrong with their volume, is the sound of silence. David (lead singer of Disturbed) put so much power and emotion into this song. The emotion that he conveys throughout is pivotal especially as it gets more aggressive/heavy/almost a desperate plead/protest for how things are right now and then showing the musicians on the boat closing the gap between themselves and the composers/the ones writing in silence… amazing!
