The anger relates to the message in the song. How we are making neon gods of fame. We hear without truly listening to each other. And music rather than silence can bring people together again. My interpretation 😊

He's angry because we were warned, and we didn't listen. Paul Simon, after seeing the live performance of this, told David Draiman of Disturbed, that the song was now his. S&G gave us a gentle warning, David is PO'd that we didn't listen. Too busy with our empty texting, focused on technology instead of interacting with each other. Paul Simon is a visionary, this song is even more relevant today than in the 1960's.

Thank you for your service. Thank God you returned alive. I am a woman who graduated from Corpus Christi Texas in 1963, where there was Naval base. I was on the other side. A boy needed a last kiss before he was deployed and he never came back. There were so many young boys just like him.Every boy and man here should think about how you would feel if you were suddenly drafted and sent off to a deadly war. This can easily happen. Simon and Garfunkel understood the situation then and Disturbed understands it now. Just listen to each other and do something before it’s too late.

First I thank you for your service Sir. I graduated high school in 1967 and a lot of my friends and relatives went over to fight for us. I hated the fact that some "older' folks were against that war and you all were fighting for all of us. As a side note, when college deferment was given, we ended up having the most college graduates our small high school had ever seen. I understand that the war wasn't very popular, but we were just kids and didn't know. My neighbor is a Vietnam Vet and he just doesn't talk about it, but makes several trips to the Veteran's Hospital for treatment = and I imagine most of you carry a lot of weight on your shoulders. It took me a while, but I know understand the phrase "War is Hell" Again, thank you.

Love Disturbed… I think it’s something in the vein of being a Ren fan … you can go in so many directions or genres of music… the message is pretty clear in the sense things haven’t gotten better in the world today since the original song was written… to me it is like if no one speaks up for injustices etc… it becomes the norm…Disturbed is a metal band with hearts of gold especially their young fans…. And to think David Draiman is actually a metal rock singer. Although he has also covered “Land of Confusion” and that’s also good 👍. If you want to hear a good one that he wrote and not too heavy try to listen to his newer song called “Don’t Tell Me” a duet with Ann Wilson. If you want to jam out to a heavier one listen to “Down with the Sickness” or “The Game”

The classical guitarwork all through the song is so beautiful, along with David's amazing performance. The anger was deliberate because this song was a warning back in the 60s, but no one listened, so this time its admonishing our society.

If I recall correctly, Paul Simon actually thinks David Draiman and Disturbed did the best version of the song. Even better than his original version. This is the version Simon wanted, but not the version that people would have liked back in the 60s. As others said, S&G were warning people of the danger to not speaking up (which I suppose was what the Hippie movement was all about), and Disturbed's version is anger that S&G's message wasn't heeded. I am a huge fan of Queen & Freddie Mercury. I think David Draiman and Disturbed are proving worthy of being spoken about in the same sentence as Freddie Mercury and Queen, and I couldn't say too many others could. They've been around for, jeez, 30 years now. Their concerts are all typically sold out.

People generally think of Simon and Garfunkel's original as a warning and Disturbed's version as anger that the warning wasn't heeded. “One of the biggest hang-ups we have today is the inability of people to communicate, not only on an intellectual level, but on an emotional level as well. So you have people unable to touch other people, unable to love other people. This is a song about the inability to communicate. My take on this - We all have our own demons and we try to lock them into a soundproof room to keep them silent. Things happen in our lives that will touch that silence and stir our demons back to life. If you have lived with these demons, you know their silence can be the loudest scream. I can't even begin to imagine the type of demons our soldiers bring home with them. **I loved your video, but damn you made me miss my Daddy. He was a hella man same as you.

In this age of social media, instant texting, and instant information the phrase "people talking without speaking" reminds me of texting. The phrase "people hearing with listening" reminds me social media where everyone voices there opinions but never listen consider others. The phrase "people bowed there head and prayed to the neon god they made" reminds me of see friends sitting next to each other yet have there eyes and mind down in there phones. While we have information and communication far superior than we ever had, people seem further apart and isolated than ever. People are not just enjoying the moments in each other's company

My take on the 2 versions, then and now: in the 60's version the way it was sung, conveyed the times It was written. The darkness hadn't reached it's peak 50 almost 60 years later, the darkness is here the sadness and anger is here. Many of us have lived from then till now and the words are more true now than even then. And we should be saddened and angered that people are even more isolated now, with out hope seeking escape and our society even less able to help, it's to worldly and offended to reach out to one another in time of need. Neither Hot or Cold, Luke warm.

Finally found a channel from my age group. The Vietnam way ended the year I graduated from high school. I have three older brothers that were of age to be drafted. I hated how the returning warriors were treated . If I would have been anywhere near an airport where they flew in I would have hugged every one of them and welcomed them home. They went through hell. So thank you for your service and I’m glad you made it home.

Many have stated, Simon and Garfunkle version was a warning. This version is the warning was ignored. An original song they did that is exceptional, is A Reason To Fight.

He is angry because the Simon and Garfunkel’s original version is campy and kinda warning us about what’s goin on in this world , (Viet Nam) David Dramain (Disturbed’s singer) is giving us todays version and it’s anger filled because WeThePeople didn’t listen back when this song was written. Our government is still engaged in endless war and our sons and daughters continue to die because the Military Industrial Complex that Eisenhower warned us about is alive, well funded and unchecked under ‘National Security’ secrecy. I thank you Sir for ur service to this great Country and as I watch Biden destroy America from within, I can only hope that your service and my Dad’s was not in vain! 🙏🏼🇺🇸 #MakeAmericaGreat! #Again
