In each case how we can find the remainder if it's not divisible?
@louiswouters71
3 жыл бұрын
You don't with this trick. Its only a process that stays in the group of numbers divisible by xx, or if you start with a non divisible numbers stays outside of that group.
@wrc1210

With this method you can't but there is a way to do it that is a little more complicated. First you have to remember the sequence 1, 3 , 2, -1, -3, -2. Then let's say the number is 616435. Do the following 5×1 + 3×3 + 4×2 + 6×‐1 + 1×-3 + 6×-2 = 1 Therefore remainder mod 7 is 1. Note if the original number has more than 6 digits start over at the 1 again for the millions place, etc. Sometimes this procedure might leave you with a large number > 7 or a negative number in which case you'd have to convert to a positive remainder in the 1-6 range. If the number is negative just keep adding 7 till you get in the range of 0-6. E.g. -9 -> -2 -> 5. If number is > 7 just subtract 7 till you're in the range of 0-6. E.g. 17 -> 10 -> 3.

Where did you get the numbers -2, +4, -5, +2, and +7 for the corresponding numbers 7, 13, 17, 19 and 23?
@MATHSSUPPORT
4 жыл бұрын
For that you need to find nearest 10's multiple .... For 7: it's nearest 10's multiple is 21. Now it's more than 20 so we need to reduce it (hence negative sign),and you getting second multiple of 10 (that's 20) so by that you got 2. Hence it's -2 For 13 : nearest 10's multiple is 39. So you need to raise it to get 40(multiple of 10) hence it's + and by that you getting 4th multiple of 10 so it's 4. Hence its +4

@@MATHSSUPPORT i don't think that that is the best explanation! anyway, i will let you explore it a little bit more and figure it out yourself that instead of subtracting 2 times, you could add 5 times instead. have fun!

For whatever it's worth there is another rule that works for 7, 11 and 13. It is to arrange the digits in groups of 3 then do an alternating sum. E.g if the number is 341709123 you do the following: 123 - 709 + 341 = -245 Now you can do the 24 - 2x5 to get 14 and show it is a multiple of 7. Not all that practical, I know because would involve a lot of 3 digit addition and subtraction in your head (though there are some tricks to make it easier with some practice), but it can still come in handy. For example suppose you have the number 16989. Rather than doing the method shown in this video 3 times you could instead start out with 989 - 16 = 973 Now you can do 97 - 2x3 = 91, etc.

Sabke table me nearer 10 ka multiple find kro..... 7 ke table me 7*3= 21 now its more than 10's multiple so we need to subtract hence. -2 ( second multiple of 2 so ) 13 ke table me 13*3 = 39...ab 10 ka multiple karne ke liye 1 add krna padega so it will be fourth multiple of 10 (+4) 17*5 =51....need to reduce it so it will become 5th multiple (-5)
