Welcome back to Ruck-Stick Archery, oh before I get started, it's pronounced "peh - nay" (penne) pasta not "pen-ee-nee" my wife just corrected me. Guess I won't be starting a cooking channel. :) This video is just a beautiful day at the range testing out my DIY HillStyle longbow build, it could also be called an American flat bow I think. It is a really simple design measuring 1.5" at the handle fade outs (the thickest point of the bow) and a gradual taper to the tip of .50." I made a Flemish twist d97 string for this bow (16 strands) and was able to bare shaft toon this bow with GOLDTIP hunter XT 340 with 150gr field tips. Arrow weight 487gr. I had 175gr on the end but the arrow flight was very wobbly. The bow length is 70" and brace height is set at 7.5" The bow is made of Ipe with a core of hickory and backed bad bellied with 2 pieces on each of .03" bow glass. The handle and riser of made of ipe and hickory, the riser is 14" long. The bow weight is 54#@29" Thanks for watching.
