When you own an old vehicle (20+ years old) it's not a question of if something will break or fail, but when it will fail.
I have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe I picked up in 2020 for a few reasons. The Tahoe reminded me (SUV size wise) of a 2000 Ford Expedition that was a great vehicle for us as a family with many fond memories and a very useful vehicle. Stumbled across the Tahoe right when the cough started and it had 42,000 miles and was in absolutely minty (for its age) condition. Too hard to pass up. Figured it would be the biggie SUV we no longer had.
All has worked out well in terms of reliability and things not breaking down. One afternoon last fall I went to open the windows for some fresh, cooler air and noticed that the rear passenger window was at an angle. Figured it was off its track (same thing had happened on my Expedition so I thought that was ironic/funny). I tried to "fix" it and quickly discovered the window actuator/regulator was having issues. Knew it would need replacement. Decided to close the window best I could and cross my fingers as it was not top of list for repairs.
Did a bit of research (as I had paid hundreds of $ to have the same problem with my Expedition repaired at a shop) and decided I'd tackle this repair myself...just not then. Well, now it's time for me to do the repair and this is my video of that attempt.
