You are. my FAVORITE fiber youtuber. I’m using your 3d print files to print handles as I type. Thank you so much for the files, and inspiration!

Lovely! I’m so sorry, the blog post is still not up yet. We’ve all come down with Covid at our house, so everything’s come to a bit of a halt.

No, just a spinner that likes making things. Fibre preparation tools are expensive so I like to work out ways of making them myself if I can.

This is totally genius 😱 ive been wanting a set of mini combed for my BFL fleece. My concern is after buying resin, onion holders and paying someone to print what my cost will be. I love yours though and they definitely look like they work well.

Thank you! I am fortunate that I already had all of the materials at home, other than the onion holders, so the combs probably cost me less than £10 to make. You could make a much simpler pair just by cutting the handles down, using some lollipop sticks as spacers and then drilling through the handles and attaching some dowel for a handle. I saw someone post just that on a Facebook group that I follow called ‘spin n fiber hacks’. There are lots of money saving fibre prep ideas on there.

Where did you get the handles?

I’m sorry, I’m in the middle of writing a blog post about how I made the wool combs. I’ll update the description when I’ve uploaded it. I designed the handles and my husband 3D printed them for me. I’ll be sharing the stl file for the handles on my blog. Depending on where you live, there are often libraries or makerspaces that will do 3D printing for a small charge.
