I did the same exact thing about 3 years ago. Building your own panels is the best way to do it trust me & it was kinda fun to if you a creative person

I built 8 of them myself for my home studio. Came out great and look professional. Cost around $20 per panel rather than about $50 buying online. Saved about $240 rather than buying them online. Would highly recommend doing them yourself. Not hard to do at all. The video I watched gave a little bit more info like the exact measurements to cut the wood, so that it would be 2 by 4 feet exactly and how to prevent the wood from bowing in after assembling it. You did a great job with this video too. Real quick and straight to the point. Also pre drilling a hole before putting the screws in the wood will prevent the wood from splitting when drilling the screws in.
@JustMamba

Probably saved more than that.. the shipping is usually as much as the panels themselves.

Awesome! I will be making these. One thing about the basic rules of upholstery and canvas framing is to pull the fabric tight over the frame and staple in the centre first, and then go out to the corners. I look forward to installing these!

Loved the video man!!! The only thing I would have done differently was to staple the frame at the ends first before I put the screws in, would've made it easier to put the screws in without having to hold the boards to align them.

Just finished mine. In total cost 236.00 wood, staple, fabric nails, rockwool. Wayyy cheaper. Thank you sir. Had to work in the heat but it was worth it. One suggestion. Het high and might drywall picture hangers and i got tone claw picture hanger on yhe top of panels. Each one of my panels were 10lbs a piece. Drywall jangers hold up to 20 and 40 lbs.

Plus they work better. Those little foam panels only get rid of high frequencies. These will cover high, medium and even lows if you make them thick enough. I made about 20 3 inch thick ones awhile back as well as about 6 8 inch ones for bass traps.

Dope video, gonna make some of these soon. Word of advice, make pilot holes before the screws so the wood doesn't crack
@YoBiggz-t7o
20 күн бұрын
That's true but the reason the wood split it because of the sharpness of the beginning of the screw but if you take a hammer and hammer the top of the screw so the beginning is sorta flat then screw in that solves that problem 99.9 % of the time (carpenter's trick) especially if someone doesn't have right tools at the time peace out and stay creative

This is the best video on the topic that I’ve found. All the other ones are people saying dumb shit like “DIY panels for $20 a panel!”… ya, if you already have the wood and tools and just need to cut it and put it together. Most of us have to actually go buy wood, buy insulation, and maybe buy some tools to make the frames. That can bring the cost up to over $50-100 a panel… but still way cheaper than buying them outright. Do you remember what you spent? Probably going to make some next week

This was dope!!! might have to incorporate these in mine, but, its sort of DIY , but, Believe it or not, the cheap 12, 24 panel acoustic foam for the home studio your thoughts? you can get them form amazon...or your local guitar center, or from sweetwater, some really don't know the difference, is there? or where should one place them, from a 12 piece, 24, 36, 48 etc..is there a really an effective spot to place? sort of DIY, or a DIY Eyeball?
