I am a beginner to woodwork, the main test I have with this bundle kzitem.infoUgkxTNB_zFBSnTo_O1PqfVUwgi7ityw0JlKt is that I think that its hard to settle on a choice of the plan and outline to use as there are a large portion of them there. Nonetheless, I like the simple stride to step directions laid out there.

Hello ! I know I am a little bit late to the party, but I just wanted to thank you very much for this detailed tutorial video and the free plans. I was able to build my own banquette thanks to you, with a little addition of an opened space on the right to put some electronic devices. It still need sanding and painting but I am very proud of the result so far !

Thanks so much for this. It is exactly what we are looking to do this very week and we are so excited to do this. We noticed that 2 things are added in the video that are not on the plans, namely, an extra half post attached to each leg (when legs are being attached to frame in video; and what looks to be an additional20" support beam at both ends of both benches at the top. We are wondering what function these provide and whether we should we include them in our design. with thanks.

It looks great! But question about the supports in the middle. At 1: 32 seconds into the video it looks like extra supports were put in place for the lid to sit on. Wouldn't you add those as youre making the frame to screw those into place? I'm confused about that step of putting in these supports when they were not there as you were adding the top plywood trim. Also near the end of the video it seems more wood was added to the back to support the lid in the back. Are those 2×4s as well?

Hi! Can you share specifically which hinges you used? I am 3/4 through this project and have gone through two sets of hinges that won’t work for one reason or another. Hinges always seem to be a sticking point for me.
@AnaWhiteDIY
17 күн бұрын
I used the most basic hinges, they look like a smaller version of house door hinges hinges. They can be surface mounted or mounted in the space between the lid and the top fixed piece. There are fancier hinges fed for sure, but this is what I did. The bench has held up very well, no problems, but we don’t use the hinge up storage constantly.

I made the exact same bench seat and have photos but I can’t find a way to add them here. It came out really good but here is my two cents. You will need a minimum of the following; Good carpentry skills Set of tools including electric saw, long level, brad nailer, screw gun, large square and a bit of common sense My biggest mistake was to assemble the two parts outside before fitting them. What I should have done was to put all the legs on with just ONE screw and then adjust them inside to make sure everything was square and level before proceeding. It would have saved me tons of headaches. The other thing is it ended up taking a total of 10 days and around $800 (I had to buy quite a few new tools). 😅

I have 4 windows with a great view this would be perfect for this! Um, except I have a couch table (the kind behind the couch) in front of 2 windows and 2 metal plant shelves in front of the other two windows. I would be facing away from the beautiful view with some of these benches. You have great ideas. Have you ever heard of Jeri Landers? She is almost 70 and making a greenhouse by herself with old windows. I hope more women learn a trade like you have. I love what you make. My husband put Rev-a-Shelf in our cabinets. It is interesting that I found this video. I'm literally removing my nearly identical bench from the previous owner and replace it with a fixed top bench with drawers. For those who'd like to re-create such bench, a few cons I'd like to point out: 1. The hinges are ugly and get in the way when sitting on. You probably need to figure out a better hidden hinge solution mounted at the bottom but the bench itself is heavy. 2. When you have pillows or cushions on the top, it is super annoying to open and close for storage purpose. 3. It will leave big gaps on the bench top which makes a less appealing look. Unless you make things precise to minimize the gaps.
@AnaWhiteDIY
