I received a tip from a helpful viewer who suggested it is good practice to always apply NEW loctite on the threads upon each brake service.👍

Hey Fernando, thank you for the feedback. I will definitely make a video when I replace the pads and rotors, with part numbers. My servicing of the brakes is helping them function well, and last longer, so I still have a few kms left on these ones...lol In the tips section of the Brake Inspection video, I explain how I bought the pads and rotors for 20% off. You may want to check that one out. kzitem.info/news/bejne/yayo3WSskHVll20

Hey Ross, I do this service every spring, when I remove my winter tires. I find that the winter sand and salt on the roads gets caked up in the callipers. Cleaning and lubricating the calliper parts as shown in this video helps them function well, and makes the brake parts last longer. It saves me hassles in the long run and saves me money. In the TIPS section of the brake inspection video, I show how to get 20% off on the brake parts, for when that needs to be done. You may want to check that out. kzitem.info/news/bejne/yayo3WSskHVll20 Enjoy.

Do you have a radiator flush video?
@CheaperJeeperTV

No, I don’t. According to the maintenance schedule, it wasn’t due for a number of kilometres more than when I sold the jeep. I will likely do it for my current Jeep that I have now.

If the wearing is present only on one brake (ie rear driver side), would you need to also do the rear passenger side even if it looks okay?

Should I open the brake fluid reservoir cap?
@CheaperJeeperTV
3 жыл бұрын
Hey Austin, I am not a mechanic. That’s why I have the statement in all my videos about the information I share is for discussion and education purposes. Also, I’m not sure I follow your question. Why are you asking if you should remove the brake fluid cap? If it’s to check the level, you should normally be able to tell through the plastic container holding the brake fluid. Also, I understand it’s a good idea to keep it closed as much as possible as brake fluid can absorb moisture and degrade as a result. I hope I followed what you were getting at.

@@CheaperJeeperTV I think Austin might be referring to a brake pad change where the piston is manually “squeezed” with a caliber pad retraction tool (or a good old C clamp), in order to install the new pads, thereby pushing brake fluid back into the reservoir tank and potentially pushing fluid out of the reservoir. In which case you may have to remove some brake fluid from the reservoir before “squeezing” (i.e. Retracting) the piston.

I’ve got over 122,000 kms on them still now and they are really functioning beautifully. The JL Sahara was built with the HD Big Brake kit. I won’t have to upgrade when I up the tire size etc. Mind you a full rotor and pad replacement is due in the spring. Cheers.

$17.00? you obviously haven't bought brakes for a JL wrangler. i just picked up a set from the dealer to put on myself, $370.00 just for rear pads for me to install at home.
