You convinced me! I’m going to add iridescent to my bone inlay. It must’ve taken 100 hours to fiddle around with that stencil! I’m faster just hand painting.

Turned out great! Have you ever used vinyl directly onto the furniture? Instead of creating a stencil, use the design to adhere the image on the furniture? I am curious if that would look good or not.

Thank you. I haven’t tried but I did wonder if there was a mother of pearl vinyl that I could just use and stick on. I guess plastic does deteriorate over time though and I think I’ll keep this piece for many years so I’m happy I went with stencilling. Great idea though.

Interresting work, but if I can be honest it looks like wall papper to me. I would have kept the raw beauty of wood with only a few elements of Marquetry (the Art), noble materials encrusted not painting.

Hi Nicole. I was wondering how you got the square where you put the leaves in (at 5:28). I'm verry new with Cricut and i can't find it. I love this project!!

Hi, the square is a shape rather than an image. Here’s a website that explains shapes. www.daydreamintoreality.com/edit-shapes-cricut-design-space/

Nicole, Thank you for your amazing tutorial, so incredibly inspiring. You’ve convinced me that I need a Cricut Maker. I was a little concerned that I would find the software challenging. I do quite a bit of stencilling and also did a bone inlay piece using many different stencils. Being able to create my own stencils will be such a huge game changer, waiting for them to arrive from the USA or other countries certainly kills inspiration.

I have a playlist of around 150 furniture makeover videos. I’m addicted to them. I’m saving this video to my list and I gotta say I think this is now my #1 favorite! I have a cricut, but never thought of doing something so detailed as this. Now I can’t wait to try it!

@@NicoleHerrickDIY it is gorgeous! To create the large, long stencil for the top of the piece, did I cut several stencils on a 24 inch mat, then assemble the stencils to make one long piece? Or did u not use a mat and just feed a roll of vinyl into the machine so it just cut one very long stencil?
