Good Luck!! When you unpack that bundle, protect that manual with your life!! It was our bible.. I know you are going to have a GREAT time!! Every time I look out at our little shed I smile!! I am so glad we built it. Last year we got a pool!! Now half the shed is dedicated to gardening and half the shed works as our little pool house where we store chemicals and have some shelves for towels and a place to change into swim suits!!

We recently put up a shed kit from Lowe's as well. Ours was a barn style so the roof is a bit taller but other than that, the experience of putting it together was pretty much the same. The wood that comes with these kits leaves much to be desired, but in the end, it's a nice-looking building and is pretty sturdy. For our next building, we're going to use pallets and reclaimed wood. We want to be able to do it on the cheap, so using free wood should help.

I too enjoy using reclaimed items to build with. They are usually much sturdier materials and then there is so much room in the design project. I am loving my shed, but I wished we could have used different material foe the doors and different window and door placement. In the chicken coop project I did at the same time we used recycled materials and I am very happy with that project. I would love to see your next project!

@@BloomwellHomeGarden Interesting that you mentioned a chicken coop because that is going to be our next project. We are currently building the pallet shed and so far we only have the walls up. Still need a roof, door, siding, insulation. But after all of that, the chicken coop is next on the list.

The shed has been wonderful. In just a few months (July) it will be 4 years already and that just doesn’t seem possible. To date, other than a piece of door trim along the bottom of the door that was actually my own fault because the latch was not closed properly and a storm blew in causing the door to swing open and closed several times and knock it off, there have been zero need for repairs! I am so thankful we did this project and have zero regrets ! Now that the shed is established, it seems as if it was always supposed to be there! Good luck with your purchase. I would love to see a photo when you have yours completed!

Thank you for watching and for your comment Jorge! This spring we did use a tractor with a bucket to lift the shed and place concrete blocks under it. Once this was done we made sure we took the time to make sure it was level. I had not anticipated how much our ground would heave in the winter. Now we have plenty of clearance under the shed and it is no longer on the gravel.

What happened to the studs on either gable end wall? There are no vertical structural elements on either end of the building, just the OSB siding holding up those ends. I would also have raised it up a bit instead of laying the 2x4 joists directly on the gravel. Moisture will come up from the ground and it has no where to go and will allow fungus to grow and eventually you will get rot. Sorry to be a bit harsh, but other folks watching this should not make these same mistakes. But it does look nice with all the paint on it...

Hi thanks for your comments. There are large posts, perhaps we.didnt film that part. I didn't film this as a tutorial, just as information on what we were doing on the farm so I wasn't as careful spell out each detail and left out a lot of steps for time. I mentioned that in several comments as well. Also there are treated 4x4s under the shed and of course in a number of years they will need replaced. Last year I mentioned we lifted the shed with a tractor, leveled concrete blocks and sat the shed back down on those to get it off the ground more. Thanks for sharing your tips within our community!

We worked at a relaxed pace. We had record high heat the week we built this, so we took some breaks along the way. I think it took us 4 days. I think if you had two people and a good solid work day you could knock it out pretty easily in one weekend. Especially if it were a 3 day weekend or at least start early on Friday Eve.

This past summer I did do that. I wanted to use the exact same building for a new chicken coop. We built this one for about $1280 total. Wood prices in our area have lowered some, since my summer calculations, but other things have risen, and keep in mind, gas prices and delivery charges have increased recently. With that being said the summer calculation was $2098. Also please recall our shingles were special order and were a bit more than regular shingles, and we ordered 2 more windows, so costs could be cut in those areas.

Thanks so much for watching. We couldn't hire a contractor because of covid. Everyone was scheduled 6 months out in our area, these sheds had 8 month waiting list, and we love to do it ourselves. However, we are having a 12x40ft shed built and delivered in a few weeks, that was more than we wanted to attempt with this year's projects. You are absolutely right, the positioning wasn't bad for snow, however the ground froze and heaved up and I couldn't get the doors open. We have someone coming April 1st to fix all that!

I think your shed is less than 8x12. Each panel between the 2x4 should be 12 inches wide. If it was 18 inches 18x6 is just over 10 feet not 12 and the side panel is just under 6 feet. 12 feet across and 8 feet wide is 144 x 96 inches.

Thanks for watching Kathy!! The shed kit was purchased from Lowes last June. It was $948.00. That does not include the floor. We purchased I believe 10 2x4x8 in treated lumber. We also picked up 3 4x8 sheets of OSB plywood, 3/4 thick. Not included in that price was the shingles. These I chose in cinnamon were special ordered. It was 5 square and I believe it was $89.00. I also.contacted the company and ordered 2 more windows at $98 each. The paint is not included in the price of the shed and I used 2 gallons for the lighter color and 1/2 gallon of the darker brown. This was WalMart Color place exterior paint in Satin.

Hi Lance, Thanks so much for watching! You know how you build, make or create something and months later you say, "If I did this again I would... " Here we are 4 months later and I would like to say, Yes I wish we would have raised it more. I will be digging out farther and building up around it, next summer. However, we did take extra care with the bottom of the shed by digging down as far as we did, and adding that nice thick layer of gravel for drainage. All the wood on the bottom of the shed, and the flooring is all pressure treated lumber. I hope this helps.
