Loved the carving and thank you for showing us your work. I watched your video about where and how to carve. My Great Grand Father had a medium sized hard leather piece. He whittled on his knee with that leather covering his whole lap. I got the leather piece and then you said not to use your lap for obvious reasons. I think I will still use the leather piece to protect my table. Thank you.

@@ireneburke1732 I'm the same way. Never been very creative. Whittling just looked like so much fun. I started by taking a utility knife and carving up sticks in the back yard. Making spirals, spheres, letter opener. It's really a hobby for anyone. I used to get upset when I would follow along with videos and not get the same result. Now I find I have the most fun when I pick up a stick with no plan and just start taking pieces off.

Yet ANOTHER great carving!!! Thanks SOOO much for all you do!!! Timely and fairly simple carvings for the Halloween/Fall Holiday!!! Your videos are great as they are NOT tooo detailed, but just the right amount to give us the idea of your carvings, yet, give us the option to add our own personal effects!!! I'm sure you do this intentionally, and I, like many others appreciate this!!! You are a great carver and inspire sooo many non-professional carves/amateur carvers to do something different and fun to do!!! THANKS for all you do and safe carving/bushcrafting to you and yours ALWAYS!!!

Doug I just love how you are so patient and explain things while you are carving so anyone can see and understand what you are doing. You are a great teacher. I enjoy all your videos and am always telling people to watch you if they want to learn how to carve. Ahhh, Steven's Point. Some members of our carving club were at that show. One of our members, Jim Hiser and his wife Joan were there. Jim is a member of the CCA. He had an article in Woodcarving Illustrated, maybe a couple of years ago and he did a larger scarecrow with straw, He used the v-tool where he pushed it into the wood and then lifted the wood up to make the straw hair. After a few of these cuts he would put some super glue on the cuts so they would stand out and not break. I hope I'm explaining this ok, but anyway, it looks pretty cool the way he does its. You have a great day and look forward to your videos all the time. Thank you.
