You can smear a small smount of mod podge on your stencil to seal the edges. You can also wipe a chalk wax on the wood to reduce spread.

Pat your stencil against a towel for a little bit of fuzz to reduce the sticky. When you rinse your stencil, the fuzz comes off.

I am super excited about this. New subscriber! I was super disappointed when I bought some stencils and I found out how expensive chalk paste was. I'm a newbie to the crafting world so I need all the knowledge and help and advise I can get. So this will work also on screen stencils too? And you mentioned that for example you want the rooster a darker red you let this dry then go over it again? I apologize for all the questions just want to learn. I appreciate your knowledge . If I let it dry using a regular reusable stencils and go over it again will it peal off without problem ? Have you had any problem cracking or pealing sing this mixture . Again sorry for the millions of questions lol this is new territory for me. I am greatly greatful for your help

I plan to try this recipe using washable paint to see if that works for using on chalkboards to be able to wash off later. The chalk couture paste is removable whereas the ink is permanent. I want to create a recipe that is removable like e chalk couture paste.

Debi Jean Wankel I have never tried to take it off a chalkboard so I cannot comment on that specifically. You are applying real paint to the surface, so I am not sure how you would be able to remove it. I personally don’t do chalkboards, I do signs. So the temporary nature of the name brand chalk paste did not work for me.
