Nice job the cages look very well made. What was your cost per cage?

Hey there. My apologies for the delayed response. I don't usually make/sell enclosures for the general public, so I don't exactly have a cost of what it would be to do one for you. If you still need one, then shoot me an email - magickalchams@gmail.com

Do you have a link to the Puck lights?

Of course, Keenan! Just make sure you are mindful of the temperature these put out. I use the lowest wattage bulb (halogen or xenon) and put them on dimmers set to a low setting to ensure nobody gets burned. Make sure you use a temp gun to get a reading in the hottest area the reptile has access to. Hey, Matthew. I'm sorry I didn't get back sooner. Trying to be better about that. I would love to help you out and answer your question. What metal/plastic thing are you referring to? What's function is it serving?

I know the prices will vary depending on cost of items at the time of filming but about how much did this cost you for everything if you don't mind me asking?

If I were to build this exact rack now, the cost of items would break down as follows. This is just an approximation. Also, I'm not including the cost for the saws, drills, and other power tools that I already had. Also, I suggest possibly waiting for lumber and material costs to go down. They have been out of control with the impact COVID has had on supply and demand. Lastly, I highly encourage you to not be discouraged when you see the final price. Building something quality will pay for itself in due time. Consider buying things over a span of time than all at once. RACK: Lumber: (approximately x10) 2x4's - $5.87 ea. (total $58.70) (x3) 4x8 15/32" Sheets Plywood - $36.55 ea. (Total: $109.65) Paint: I just used the cheap latex paint that Home Depot sells. I believe they're $13 or so per quart container. I used 1.5-2 quarts (Total $26, plus some extra paint to use for something else) Paint brushes are usually about a dollar for a cheapo one and about $5 for a small roller (Total $6) Screws: I used a Kreg pocket hole jug to build this. These cost anywhere from $20+. If you like to build things out of wood a lot this might be a worthwhile investment. However, if it's a one-time-use type of thing, just stick with the $20 version. You'll also need the pocket hole screws that go with it which are about $5. (Optional Total $25, not included in final cost below) Alternatively, you can just butt joint all the wood, eliminating the cost of the pocket hole jig. You'll be using multiple size screws which will cost about $6 for 100. You'll need at least two different sizes (Total: $12) Wheels/Casters: I used some I already had, but if you choose to use them, you can find them pretty cheap at Harbor Freight (not included in final cost below) CAGES: Depends if you want to make them or buy them from Zoo Med or a similar Brand. If you build them the size I made them, each cage's cost will break down as follows: Frame: (x4) 5/16" x 3/4" Aluminum Frame (sold in 7 foot pieces) - $4.18. Multiply that by 24 (since the rack holds 24 cages) (Total: $401.28) You may have extras if you don't mess up any cuts, however, this will ensure you have more than enough to mess up here and there. Screen: I bought a HUGE roll of it off Amazon. The silver aluminum is significantly less money (but rusts after time) than the black aluminum version, but I suggest buying the black version as it will save you the hassle of painting the silver one. Also, make sure to not get fiber glass screen, because bugs will chew their way through it. The 48'x100' roll of black I have cost about $128, and you wouldn't use nearly all of it. (Total $128, with lots of screen left over) Spline: 27 feet per cage needed. This totals 648 feet for all 24 cages. You can buy 100 foot packs off amazon for like $8. You'd need 7 of them (x7) 0.125" x 100' Spline - $8 ea (Total $56) Spline Roller: (x1) Spline Roller - $6 ea (Total: $6) Paint: You can always omit painting the Aluminum frame, but if you want to paint it, a good can of spray paint is about $5. (I assume you'll need about 8 cans) (x8) Spray Paint Cans - $5 ea. (Total: $40) Screen Corners: With everything I listed above, you'll be using 3/4" plastic corners. I highly suggest getting packs of these in bulk off Amazon. You'd be surprised how many you can get for a small price vs what you'd pay for 2 at Home Depot. You'll need 32 per cage, 768 for all 24 cages Amazon sells 100 packs for $18 so, (x8) Screen Corners packs - $18 ea (Total: $144) LIGHTS UVB I used the 24" Zoo Med T5 fixtures for this and used 8 of them (2 per shelf). These typically cost about $60, but you may be able to find them whole sale or cheaper depending on the site you buy from. So, (x8) 24" Zoo Med Reptisun T5 Hoods & Lights - $60 ea. ($480) Heat: You can find the recessed lighting at Home Depot. I used 1 box of 6 per shelf (x4) Puck Lights - $50 ea. (Total: if $200) Dimmers: Each set of heat lights I used 1 table top dimmer (x4) Table Top Dimmer - $14 (Total: $56) DRAINAGE Drainage Trays: I made one for each rack. I won't include this drainage solution in the total cost below since my drainage solution may be different than yours. You can check out my other video titled DIY DRAINAGE TRAYS if you're interested in what I made for this rack. Aside from all of the materials to build the rack and cages you will need to furnish them. The price to furnish each will vary depending on whether you use live or fake plants, real branches or dowels, et cetera. I will not be including that price in the total of the project. Anyway, with all of these costs summed up, you'd be looking to spend about $1,723.63 excluding your local tax rate. There are ways to make this less expensive, such as making a smaller rack, using silver screen, omitting a paint job on the cages, repurposing lumber and so on. I hope this was enough of an answer to give you a good idea of what you need and of what you're looking to spend, However, if you still have questions, let me know (:
