Absolutely brilliant idea, I was this morning looking around to buy these, couldn’t find any in Portugal, we have lots of fly screens and a surplus of 5 litre water bottles, let the production begin!

I watched your video about 6 months ago. I gave this a try, and it worked great! I experimented with some different colors too...black, silver, gold, etc., and even did some where I painted gold or silver, then added some black here and there...really turned out nice! You can't tell they're plastic! Thanks again for this great tip!👍🎸🎶

Such a cool tip! Not that they're that expensive to buy, it's just a hassle ordering and waiting. These can be made guickly for next to nothing. I like the idea! Thanks a lot!😀🎸🎶

Thanks for this simple but fantastic tip Wade! I've been struggling with how to make the holes in my boxes look better (less rough and unfinished) and I think this might be the answer. I tried beer bottle tops on the last one (so I'm not sure 'struggle' is the right word!) but it involved me having to flatten the tops, then cut a kind of asterisk shape into the top and bend back the cut metal. It was okay, but nothing as good as this. And as you say - it looks professional too.

I tried this and it worked out great. I used a Simply Orange bottle which gave me a finished inside diameter of 1 3/8". (This looks better to me than the smaller 1" sound holes) Unfortunately, I had to wait a week while we finished the second bottle of juice so that I could make the second sound hole cover. ;)

another idea to make the sound holes look better; put a picture in the bottom of the box so that you can see it through the sound hole. If you put mesh over the hole it looks even cooler when you look at the picture.

dgraytcps if you find the right size drill bit, none. Most snap in tightly. I used to glue using hot glue. Until I realize they can be snapped in place

What's the impact on tone and volume from the sound board when you use plastic?
@VictoryCBGs

Ron Miller I don’t think it has much impact as long as they are in there tight-you don’t want any rattles or vibrations.
